Eye clininc

I visited eye clinic for follow-up of laser therapy for retinal holes and lattice degeneration in right eye. The doctor in the clinic discovered a cotton wool spot in right eye. I read about it online and found that HIV infection can cause cotton wool spot(s). Next day after the eye examination, I went for HIV1 and HIV 2 antibodies test and Thanks God, it was negative. My full blood count, renal profile, CRP and fasting glucose were normal. ESR was also normal 10 (upper range for the test was 11).

Then after some time I read about a case report in which a patient had cotton wool spots in HIV seroconversion, though the patient also had other symptoms.

I am now worried again. Should I go for another test? After one week of eye examination, I had another eye check up and that cotton wool spot had disappeared completely.

Risks for HIV include unprotected oral sex (insertive and giving) with escorts. Vaginal sex was always with a condom. Cotton wool spot was seen on 11/7/2008 and last episode of sexual contact was on 20 June 08. HIV test was on 12 July 08.

Thanks for your help.
