Question about ARS

Hello All,

I know that you should not rely on symptoms, but I have a few questions about ARS.

Does anyone know why some people get symptoms and others don't?

Also I have read that between 40 - 90% of people get ARS symptoms. What's does that mean? That seems like a really big range.

Finally, I have read that not getting symptoms means slower disease progression. Is this correct?

Thanks

Again, i think a better approach to your concern is your risk. You can still go to past similar questions in the expert forum and see these answered by doctors replying before. The one below is from Dr HHH

"And as you already have seen elsewhere, even if she had HIV, the transmission risk for a single episode of unprotected vaginal sex, female to male, averages around once for every 2,000 encounters."

For peace of mind just get tested.

The risk was unprotected vaginal intercourse. It's been over 8 weeks and I have had no symptoms at all. I know lack of symptoms is not conclusive but I would still be interested to know the answers to the above questions.

Thanks

Hi, the reason we dont like to discuss relying on symptoms as they could be anything so we start out by asking what was the risk. Cause if you had no risk the symptoms would no be hiv related.
