I got tested at 47 days and 96 days after possible exposure with an oral test and both came back negative...but i have been concerned because I have developed some kind of sinus infection for about two months now that won't go away. Is there anything that could have made the test come back negative such as drinking water 5 or 10 minutes before the test...I wouldn't be worried but usually I don't get chronic little ailments like this and its been driving me crazy...Anybody offer any insight into my situation?
I tested 106 days after a low risk encounter. Once a hospital that checks for HIV1/2 and once at a lab that does confidential testing. Both tests were negative but I have lost some noticable weight. Should i be worried.
Yes, some people never test positive.
But it is very very very very rare.
As in 1 out of 100 000 rare.
Doctors don't worry about it.
Blood banks don't worry about it.
You should not worry about it.
Everything is possible in life.
Uncertainty is a part of life, you are going to have to live with it.
Your test results will be accurate and you should trust them.
Take care of the yeast problem and if you still can't deal, take care of the anxiety problem.
Don't stress out over it, don't ruin your life worrying about the problem which you don't have!
Have you taken antibiotics or steroids? They can lead to yeast infections, as can other things. Also, I believe that fungal infections can affect the nervous system, so that could explain your anxiety as well. Anyway, yeast is nasty and can be difficult to get rid of. My advice is, before you take the zoloft, try to address this problem. If mainstream medicine doesn't help, try alternative medicine, I heard they are much more successful in dealing with yeast problems.
But you do not have HIV.
You have taken risks in the past and got away with it. Use this experience for the good. If you like your sex raw, you need to be careful choosing partners. Stay away from bisexual men and stay away from drugs. There are plenty of clean straight guys out there. You will be fine.
Yeah I hope it will be negative....I keep getting yeast infections and sort of stys in my right eye....these are the things I keep noticing the most....What can make a antibody test not catch a positive if it would be a positive. Should I get one of those nucleic acid test or a PCR....After this blood test, if it is negative I will be going to get some zoloft or something and some counseling. I hope that the ora quick advance oral fluid test was the best in my situation...
I have just read that some people wont produce the antibodys and even if positive that they will always have negative tests....Also would a yeast infection and a eye infection give a problem with the blood test that im going to take tommorrow?
Yeah, and forget the PCR, it's a waste of your money.
There are much more false negatives and much much much more false positives with that test. Don't do it, take the blood test and then relax.
There are tons of webpages dedicated to yeast and candida. Read up on that, maybe you will find something that helps you. Try not to think about HIV.
I will take another but this time it will be a blood test....Scared there will be a change tho....I took a test april 5th ora quick advance oral fluid and then yesterday I took another test june 9th ora quick advance oral fluid....This would be 2 years after a high risk exposure unprotected sex with to indivivuals one which was bisexual and both injection drug users and another low risk exposure which was taken 98 days after the low risk exposure...This tuesday I have an appointment to take a hiv blood test....Im worried im gonna be a person which has to test out to a year to feel i dont have this....cause i honestly feel that this blood test will find something that the ora quick advance oral fluid did not even tho i took it 2 times now.
Look, you have nothing to worry about, you will be negative.
You got tested at appropriate times and you are fine.
I do believe that Oraquick is not the greatest test out there.
But 99.3% is still damn good!
Besides, why are you worried anyway, are you ill?
Take the blood test, it will make you feel much better.
IT WILL BE NEGATIVE
Look, no medical test is ever 100% accurate.
If taking another test will make you happy, do so, by all means.
It will be negative!
Don't worry
No you can not have a false negative ever if you test after the window period, simple as that!
What are the limitations of the test? Does this test always give a correct result?
The limitations of this test are similar to the limitations of other HIV antibody tests, including:
False Positives - although none were found in the clinical trial, a statistical analysis of the data indicates that a very small number of people who are not infected with HIV-1 will have reactive test results. As the test is used in broad outreach settings it is expected that false positives may be seen and therefore reactive results should not be considered definitive until confirmatory testing has been completed.
False Negatives - a small number of people who are infected with HIV-1 will have negative test results.
Delayed detection of exposure -- this test will not detect HIV-1 infection in people who were exposed within about three months prior to taking the test (since it can take that long for detectable antibodies to HIV-1 to appear in the blood).
Follow-up testing - a reactive result is interpreted as preliminarily positive for HIV-1 infection. Individuals with reactive test results should have follow-up testing using another method to confirm the initial test result.
Ok sorry to bother u but....When you say false negative do happen in a small number of people is that because of the Delayed detection of exposure test taken prior to 3 months?????????? Or could it just happen regardless of the time of exposure?????
You are acting weird !
You don't need to take any test if you are immuno - compromised, you should have been on your hospital's bed if that was the case.
You don't have HIV, I'm done .
I envy you, and I am sure many others do. Just allow us to get over the 3 month hump and test negative.... we promise to move on and gratefully accept our gift of life!
Are there any particular test that can be ran to check in make sure or is this something that would definately be noticed??I took a quiz to see if you may or may not have a auto immune disorder online(Yeah I know it was retarded) but it said that it couldnt rule out the possiblity that I would have one. Not likely but it couldnt rule it out.
Auto-immune disorders are very rare and typically due to genetic defects. The odds that you have one and have not discovered it are nil.
with a sensitivity of 99.3 which detecting the amount who are actually positive....is the other 0.07% the amount of which someone was positive and didnt recieve the correct result. Or does it all have to do with the timing of the test??
would you please give me your opinion about false negatives after testing after2 years past the exposue. With high risk situations
Auto Immune disease ...lol !
If you were to be immuno - compromised / suffering from auto immune disease you wouldn't have been sitting in front of your computer and typing anxiety related questions.
Sensitivity of 99.3 % ?
There's nothing 100 % in Medical Science and for that matter nothing in the universe too !
The chance are higher that you will be struck by lightening this very moment than the remaining 0.07 % sensitivity of your test ditching you !
Your fears are irrational, seek help !
I have been told that a auto immune disease could cause a problem, but I have also been told that you get it when your a child. Is there anyway possible to have gotten one in the last few recent years and not know about it? I have made a appointment with the doctor for next tuesday. Hoping to dispell any of these crazy feelings that I am having about a false negative...Prob will have a blood test done just to curb my anxiety. 99.3 sensitivity is pretty good but really scary when one is dealing with the idea of a false negative or to actually be positive. How many test for you did it take to make you feel better? Just one.
1. You have taken an Ora Quick Rapid test, it is an FDA approved test.
2. Your rest was conclusive.
3. You have no problems with your immune system cuz I'm sure you're not a cancer patient at the last stage of the disease or been injecting drugs in to your veins.
4. Irrational speculation, is what you're doing and that is some thing we cant help you with.
5. We have given you the facts and the reality, now you decide what do you want to believe !
