Dr. Hook,

I just wanted to keep you updated on my health real quick.  On Friday, August 21st (over 3 months past my last unprotected exposure), I tested negative on the Antibody and Viral Load test.  I wouldn't have normally gotten a viral load test, but my boyfriends' clinic in NYC extended it to me as a service and i of course accepted.  I am continuing to support him, regardless of what he did b/c i feel it is the right thing to do and i want to be there for him.  He is doing a lot better...currently on Atripla for the past 2 months and his viral load has gone down from 210,000 to 330, although his tcell is at 206 we are told it will now rise b/c of the decrease in his viral load.  Naturally my only concern for myself is staying negative.  We've been told by the clinic to do safer things such as mutual masturbation, limiting oral sex to only myself being the insertive and not him, and using a condom 100% of the time (me always being insertive there too).  My only lingering question regarding my safety to u is, as long as we are following that guideline...i should expect to lead a life of being HIV negative?

One other thing i would like to share is that I am in the beginning stages of enrolling in the HIV Vaccine clinical trial at Columbia University in NYC.  I really want to do something proactive in order to help in any sort of scientific advancement regarding HIV.  I just need to be hiv negative which i am, and test negative for the Ad 5 cold virus which I am testing for this week.  As long as i dont have the Ad 5 virus antibody in me, i can qualify for the trial and hopefully do something proactive to help.  Do u have any knowledge of this particular trial that has just started? Opinions? Thanks doctor, I truly appreciate everything you have offered me.

ugh sorry teak. I just checked the bottom of my original discussion and it says "this discussion is closed" (in the expert forum). Does that mean I need to start all over again, pay the $20 and start a new discussion? or will doctor Hook see this eventually? Sorry bout this.

By the way teak, while i have you here...what do u think of the vaccine trial? Do u have any opinions on it? I want to be able to help in some way, shape or form.  I wouldn't be dumb enough to assume I'd be fully protected now b/c i had some sort of vaccine trial, b/c after all it is a trial. But after the one trial failing in 2007, do u think this could have a better end result? I value ur opinion.
