HIV Antibody + P24 Antigen window period?

Hello,

How conclusive would this test be at 3 weeks after exposure? How much peace of mind could it buy me?

for the sake of being reactive, I would like to thank you all for your participation.

I have tested at week 8, DUO test, and the result came back negative again.

now it's week 11, I had a heavy night of drinking 24 hours ago.. since the last day, I can feel the lymph nodes on my neck's left side... no other symptoms.. I do not want to panic again.. any thoughts?

I am getting the final test next week, by then the 12 weeks are over and the DUO will be conclusive..

An ARCHITECT HIV Ag/Ab Combo test result that is nonreactive does not exclude the possibility of exposure to or infection with HIV-1 and/or HIV-2. Nonreactive results in this assay for individuals with prior exposure to HIV-1 and/or HIV-2 may be due to antigen and antibody levels below the limit of detection of this assay.

If you look on the right hand side, Dr Jose has done a blog on HIV testing. He did mention that the DUO would detect HIV in this time scale (albeit 90% )

Freedom health often state a HIV DUO is conclusive after 4week, as did Dr Hunter today ( well he said 99% ) 13 weeks 99.89%

So testing at in another week or so will be 99% and 13week 99.89%.

Hope that Helps

The need for a repeat HIV test if still within the window period after a specific exposure should be discussed. Although fourth generation tests shorten the time from exposure to seroconversion a repeat test at three months is still recommended to definitively exclude HIV infection.

but I read that the DUO test (Antibody + P24 Antigen) is approved by the FDA?

Only diagnostic test approved is the antibody test at 3 months. This is the standard we use. Dr's on this site may talk about other tests and when you can consider it conclusive but they have that luxory and real world experience.

I spoke to a doctor from a Lab, he said it would be 70% conclusive... I would like to know what the guys on this forum think about that.. ?  Waiting 8 weeks is probably going to kill whatever nerves I have left...

I had protected sex, but I had a few drinks and I'm worried I dont remember well..am worried I could have made a quick SINGLE first penetration unprotected with the girl I was with... (not a prostitute)... HELP!
