Burning Mouth Syndrome

Hi there i read in the.body.com that burning mouth syndrom in men is exclusively reflective of hiv-is it true? I was involved with a lady of the night and ive had serious oral issues about 12 days after including warts on my penis.I got a test after 10 weeks at a clinic in Lusaka ,Zambia but it is so far negative.I have never had such oral sicknesses and im worried that this is due to HIV,especially because of the genital warts which reveal an exposure.

There is a blogger who claims that the clinics maintain uncertainty with regards hiv-i am worried about the testing standards here. Why would people in the medical profession say that the window is indefinate?-is this without merit or experience?

Im sure if i was to test in America the standards are more stringent.

I will test again in 2 weeks but i am also from the same region where theres controversy over when one gets infected and when antibodies are present in enough quantities to be detected.

Yeah but for a social misfit like myself who had sex only this once its not a good sign at all.I am usually very much in good health.I only experienced ill health after my encounter..

OHL is not HIV specific.

I read somewhere that OHL is indicative of fast encroaching AIDS.Is it not true to say that such immunocompromised people may in actual fact turn HIV positive way after the window period.Having OHL would mean ones immune system is vertually non exsistant right?

There are NO symptoms that are "exclusively reflective" of acute HIV infection. HIV infection is not diagnosed by symptoms, it is diagnosed by blood tests. The test that you took at 10 weeks was very accurate and you shouldn't expect the result to change in subsequent testing. Just have one more test at 3 months; at that time the result will be conclusive.
