HIV/HEP-C/TYPE II DIABETES

I've read that people with hiv and hep-c also develop type II diabetes in some cases. Each of these diseases on their own is a handful. I read of a helthcare worker getting a coinfection of hep-c plus hiv who died within a year after infection...now thats startling.

Sometimes they have to stop the HAART medication while giving interferon, most of the time the liver can and does handle it. At least the treatment for HCV has come a long ways as compared to a few years ago. It use to be a person got a subq shot three time a week. Now I believe it's once a week or once every three weeks. One with HCV has to have liver biopsies done for several years after treatment is completed.

Only if you are overweight do you have a greater risk of getting diabetes. I know a lot of people that are coinfected with HCV and none have developed diabetes.
