HIV Risk Unprotected Vaginal

I'm a male in my 30s. I had unprotected vaginal sex for less than 10 seconds at a massage parlor on December-9th. She said she gets tested every 30 days, true or not, who knows. I started post exposure prophylaxis at 75th hour after the exposure. All the data suggests that medication is best effective if taken within 72 hours. I'm freaking out with my anxiety getting worse by hour. Side effects from these meds have not helped the situation. I have been feeling very cold and freezing all the time. Any thoughts or insights about my risk of catching HIV and symptoms is much appreciated.

10 seconds of unprotected intercourse is EXTREMELY low risk.  The odds of getting anything from such a brief encounter are astronomical.
Regarding being very cold, that's not a symptom of HIV but may be related to the PEP you're taking.  Talk to your doctor about this symptom.

Thank you!! Does being uncircumcised increase my risk? Also, any thoughts about effectiveness of PEP at 75th hour vs within 72 hours?
Not enough to worry about with this insanely low-risk exposure.

Obviously, the 72 hour limit is there for a reason, but it doesn't go from being 90% effective at hour 72 to zero percent effective 3 hours later.
Just thinking ahead about testing, I can't seem to get a clear answer if DUO test at 28 days of PEP will be sufficient, but or another one at 60 day, 90 days will be needed?
To make it clear: Take a test at least 28 days after your last dose of PEP, and then move on from this event. You don't need further testing.

Also, none of the "symptoms" you mention have anything to do with HIV.

Thank you! That certainly helps. For the ease of mind, it hypercalcemia and elevated protein levels consistent with potential HIV?

Also, any cases of PEP causing elevated Calcium and protein?

Can the 4th Gen HIV testing (Quest) be negative and still have the infection in the body?
Here is the answer to all of your questions in this thread, test 28 days after your last dose of pep. It will likely be negative and it would be conclusive. Nothing else can be said nor do we need a blow by blow. We know you are anxious. Wait until the 28th day or after and take the 4th gen duo test.

1) only an HIV test can diagnose HIV.  For the significance of your other lab results and medical symptoms, consult your doctor.
2) no test is reliable until 28 days post-PEP.

So, more updates. I completed my 28 days of PEP. Started experiencing severe low back pain, hip pain, random joint pains, knees, ankles, elbows, blurry vision, eye redness. Started Doxycycline and got Ceftriaxone injection for potential reactive arthritis. Tested 2 days after starting Doxy, noticed improvement in joint pains.

Exposure: 12/9/22
First day of PEP: 12/12/22 (75 hours later)
Last date of PEP: 1/8/23

I attributed my symptoms above to PEP side effects but started experiencing these mid thru my PEP. Now they have worsended where walking, standing, sitting causes burning pain in the hips.

First day of Doxy & Ceftriaxone: 1/11/23
Blood, urine test: 1/13/23 (5-days post PEP completion)
- Negative HIV, Hep B, Syphilis, Gonorrhea, Chlamydia
- Elevated protein 8.5, elevated Calcium 10.5

1. What do I make of my elevated Calcium and how do protein??? These have certainly led to more my anxiety.

2. How reliable is my negative HIV testing. I plan on post 28 days of PEP testing and at 90 days?

Any insight is appreciated!!!

This is all unnecessary. we aren't analyzing all of this. The test at 28 days post pep will be negative or positive (MOST likely, odds are it will be negative since you transmission is less than 1 percent given your risk). That result will be conclusive if you test with a 4th gen duo test.
