HIV Tests PEP

Hi, my doctor told me that if I've been recently exposed to HIV,  I could take an HIV/DNA test testng for the DNA of the virus. If I test positive, she says I can take the PEP medication and kill the virus. Is this true? Is this a cure?

thanks!
Julio

According to UK regulations, 3 month from ending the PEP treatment will give a conclusive result - this means 4 month post exposure.

No it is not true. PEP has to be taken within a certain amount of time after exposure I believe 72 hours. And in no way is it a cure. PEP is a medication that can help inhibit the virus.
The only test that is 100% is an antibody test at 3 months.
