"Whether or not you will admit it, he really does only selectively respond to the people who have extremely low risk situations.  Rarely does he address anal sex or homosexuality"

aint that the truth.

Look, I agree that my second statement was less than clear and poorly worded.  So, I do agree with you there. My problem with Teak is that he provides absolutely no useful insight into peoples questions.  He says "Yes, risk"  or "No risk".  His favorite thing to say is don't guess, just get a test.  While I agree that sexually active people should get tested, people who have these risky encounters logically know they need to be tested.  They didn't ask whether they should get tested.  Teak refuses to answer any of their questions about risk, nature of the virus, etc.  He cannot expand upon anything that he says.  In my eyes, if you don't know about HIV, then that's perfectly alright, but don't post on everyones comment "test".  Answer the people's questions and if you can't, then just sit back, shut your mouth, and read the post.  I am not directing this at you.  Teak claims to be an expert on HIV, but I have not seen any expert worthy answers.  Anyone can tell everyone to go test.  Whether or not you will admit it, he really does only selectively respond to the people who have extremely low risk situations.  Rarely does he address anal sex or homosexuality.  It makes me (and several others) think that he is completely uncomfortable discussing the subject, even though he has experience with both.  Why should someone like that be giving out advice?

Yopu probably don't care but I want you to know! I also respect a lot of your messages. I just don't respect when the bashing begins, regardless if Teak started it or not. You have a lot of good information on HIV. I have checked and researched a lot of Your posts (trying to find something wrong). I haven't found anything wrong. I have also checked regularjoey out as well! He is very informative. Teak is as well! I know there is a lot of words between the three of you, but most of the time no one in particular is wrong. I am not on Teaks side. I'm not really on anybody's side. I am on here to help assess risk and offer advice. If the people take it, they can. If the people don't take, my feelings aren't hurt. I am not an HIV expert but commonsense wise I can apply what I have learned. Lets quit getting on each other and stick to just helping.

Your First statement is clear!

(HIV will not automatically determine if it will or will not respond to a drug like amoxicillin)

Your second statement is no way near the way you are trying to cover it up in your last post! You misread the question and wrote what you wrote. Your second post you are trying to belittle Teak and make it seem like you wrote it that way by saying (to provide information to him about why his ear infection might not respond to amoxicillin if it ever stops responding). It doesn't come out that way at all and I do have the education higher than that of a kindergartner, Bachelors in "Aeronautical Science", Bachelor of Arts in English. If your second post is true, than you should just say "Oops! Sorry I missed typed that!" No one types correctly in a forum (it's not english class), but you just can't admit anything wrong. You have two reasons for that. First you think you know it all (you don't) and secondly, which you can't help, you are a female (can never admit fault). Grow up! This is what you wrote!

(The reason your ear infection might not have responded to amoxicillin is because many ear infections, especially adult ear infections, are caused by viruses (not HIV), common, everyday viruses.  For this, your doctor could have prescribed Motrin for the pain or prednisone for the swelling associated with it, but the American Academy of Family Physicians recommends that antibiotics be withheld from adults with suspected ear infections.)

You either misread or miss typed! Either way you were wrong and I guess after what you called teak, ANY KIDERGARTNER CAN FIGURE THAT OUT.

And if you notice what I said, "HIV will not automatically determine if it will or will not respond to amoxicillin."  If you could read and interpret at all, you would see that I was implying that simply because it is or is not responding to antibiotics will not provide any information on whether or not HIV is present.  Later on in my note, I said "the reason your ear infection might not have responded to amoxicillin is because many ear infections are caused by viruses" to provide information to him about why his ear infection might not respond to amoxicillin if it ever stops responding.  Sorry I didn't spell it out at that kindergarten level you are used to.

He said, "If I have an ear infection and its responding to amoxicillin it couldn't be ARS related right??"  He didn't say it wasn't responding to amoxicillin.

An ear infection is not a symptom of ARS.  HIV will not automatically determine if it will or will not respond to a drug like amoxicillin.  HIV related infections can be, but are not always, resistant to treatment.  This is more seen in advanced HIV/AIDS where the immune system is so compromised that the host gets infected with very rare and resistant bacteria/parasites.  Search the other posts for unprotected insertive vaginal sex and see what we all had to say about that.

It is unlikely that your ear infection is due to ARS or primary HIV.  Ear infections are very common, especially around cold/flu season.  The reason your ear infection might not have responded to amoxicillin is because many ear infections, especially adult ear infections, are caused by viruses (not HIV), common, everyday viruses.  For this, your doctor could have prescribed Motrin for the pain or prednisone for the swelling associated with it, but the American Academy of Family Physicians recommends that antibiotics be withheld from adults with suspected ear infections.  This is because, again, most adult ear infections are viral in nature and will not respond to antibiotics.  Unfortunately, you just have to let it run its course if this is the case.

If you are sexually active, you should get regular tests anyway, so now would be a good time to put your mind at ease and test.

Not that I know of. You just can't rely on symptoms.

Is an ear infection also a symptom of ARS . Just curious . I have never seen that before .

If your ear infection responded to medication, I really doubt it has anything to do with ARS. You won't know if you have ARS unless you get a confirmed positive result.

He diagnosed it as an ear infection and since I was put on amoxicillin its gone down.  If this was ARS related it shouldn't respond to antibiotics right?  (too early to test for HIV accurately at the moment, exposure was unprotected vaginal with ex girlfriend who claimed negative)
