Genital warts are caused by a subtype of HPV, a totally different virus than HIV. Also, HPV can be spread by skin to skin contact, which HIV cannot. Therefore, due to the easier route of transmission, many more people have HPV than HIV. Roughly 6% of adults in the US have genital warts, compared to less than 1% for HIV.
You've never had an exposure.
Thank you! Still so SCARED! because the damn web makes people crazy... Like I said all the genital wart sights said YES that warts equal HIV
Then don't go to those websites..HPV has nothing to do with HIV.
Teak.. I cant sleep, eat or work... Its all I think about.... Now I go on HIV websites and check out all the skin diseases... Genital warts is on their with men living with HIV,... Also dry itchy skin.. Now I am itching my skin... I am completely going crazy.... My dermatalogist has me freaking out...
Cause I keep thinking... well if I dont have HIV then why the hell did I get genital warts?
You can find anything on the internet, so don't get stressed out by trying to diagnose yourself online. As long as you always use a condom, you are fine and have nothing to worry about. It is true that people with HIV are more likely than the general public to have other STD's, such as genital warts. However, this is simply due to the fact that, on average, people with HIV likely have engaged in more risky behavior than the general population.
Jumping out of my skin to the point I feel like Im having a heart attack.... I have been totally brainwashed by all the crap I have been reading for the past two weeks all hours of the night and morning,
Websites say men do not get genital warts unless infected with something else!
Explain that. "people with HIV likely have engaged in more risky behavior than the general population."
That's not true. That is total BS.
I said "on average" that people with HIV have likely engaged in riskier conduct that the general population. I am obviously not talking about everyone with HIV. When you are dealing with a disease that is transmitted by certain high risk sexual behaviors, obviously other STD's that are transmitted by those same risk behaviors are going to be more prevalent. This is basic common sense.
