There is no debate (among experts) about the HIV risks associated with oral sex. The risk is so low that almost nobody who cares for HIV infected patients has ever had a patient believed to have been infected that way. Among experts, it's a semantic issue about using terms like "no risk" and "very low risk". There is no difference between my or Dr. Hook's use of "low risk" and other experts' "no risk".
DR. HANSFIELD
"And oral sex is basically safe sex -- completely safe with respect to HIV and although not zero risk for other STDs, the chance of infection is far lower than for unprotected vaginal or anal sex. Please educate yourself about the real risks. If you stick with oral sex and condom-protected vaginal or anal sex, you have no HIV worries and very little worry about other STDs. " DR HANSFIELD
"I am sure you can find lots of people who belive that HIV is transmitted by oral sex, but you will not find scientific data to support this unrealistic concern..." DR HOOK
"HIV is not spread by touching, masturbation, oral sex or condom protected sex."- DR. HOOK
in the public HIV Prevention forum of MedHelp, TEAK and the other moderators maintain that oral sex in all forms is a zero risk activity. Would you agree with this assessment?
I TOTALLY AGREE / DR GARCIA
"The observation on thousands and thousands of observations is that HIV is not spread by oral sex (of any sort)." DR HOOK
Thanks - In a way i hope it is anxiety, Im still having all the symptoms especially a burning feeling either side of my lips, However i kind of hope it is anxiety because if i get all my test results back and everything is negative then i think all will be ok.
Again any advice on this is greatley appreciated.
See your doctor for your concern if you are troubled. This forum is HIV specific.
So if this is not going to be HIV could anyone shed some light on what it could be? My legs ache quite frequentley and my hands are pretty dry. Could this just be a case of anxiety? I have been to doctors about my mouth and they think it's just a viral infection that should clear up! This hasn't cleared up tho and i feel tired quite alot of the time.
You could not have had an exposure and therefore are at no risk for HIV. You should just forget about this and move on with your life.
bumps on your left foot have NOTHING to do with hiv ! ! !
NOTHING that you have described put you at risk for contracting hiv. any "symptoms" that you create are not related to infection.
ok so i don't know if im been a complete worrier but also now on my left foot on the soles there has been redish bumps which have turned into almost puss like spots they are very red around the area too.
Just like the lady said-hope-you protected yourself when you needed to,well done.unprotected oral sex poses no risk because saliva contains protiens that cause the hiv virus to become inactive. As for your symptoms, many different infections and reactions cause similar types of symptoms not specific for hiv.your safe.
Thankyou for your advice, Can anyone else reading with the knowledge also reply so i can see what different people have to say, Could this just be coincidental that i got ill after having this sexual encounter ? and if im worrying alot about it could i just be suffering from anxiety attacks ?
You had No Risk for HIV from unprotected Oral Sex and No Risk for HIV from Protected Anal Sex
No need to worry and no need to test!
