HIV risk, protected sex

I had protected sex with a casual sex worker in Cambodia. To the best of my knowledge the condom did not split. 10 days later I am very worried and have somehow got it into my head that the condom may have split, even though I didn't notice any split. I checked my penis and can see no signs of anything unusual, but think that it has felt a bit sensitve over the past couple of days. I'.m sure its all in my mind Over the last couple of days I have acknowledged that I seem to have some sort of obsessive fear about HIV. Always on my mind, and thinking what if?
Is this all just anxiety?

Thanks for the replies guys.

It was the initial worry followed by the feeling in my penis which really freaked me out. I have been to see a doctor about this. Still worried but will use your replies to try and stay calm.

Thanks again.

If a condom fails it's catastrophic and you would know.

Many thanks for the replies.

I didn't fully ejaculate much during the sex, therefore there was not much semen in the condom. I think this is the factor that made me think "what if it split?"

Having said this, Teak, do you still think that I would have noticed without a doubt if it had split?

Thanks again.

Your question is the most common one on this forum. Protected sex with sex workers provokes unnecessary anxiety in at least half the people who come to this site. This is partly due to urban myths and misinformation that most of them are infected, that sex with them will lead to infection, and society's traditional marginalization of them.

You seem to already understand intellectually that your fears are unfounded, you just need to believe that emotionally and understand that protection is always complete if the condom is intact, regardless of the partner involved.
