HIV structure

Hello! I have a question I'm hoping someone can shed some light on. First, I've been doing a little research on hiv and how it infects cells. I know that the gp120 binds to receptors on the host cell and that gp41 fuses the cell and viral membranes together. But I keep coming back to the question, what part of the particle is the actual HIV virus? I know it's not the glycoproteins but is it the RNA that's held in the capsid within the viral membrane? Since that's what is injected into the cell and has the rna strands and enzymes..or is it the entire particle, viral envelope and glycoproteins included?

I'm sorry if this doesn't make much sense but I'm hoping someone can better explain this to me!

Your other thread. You never had an exposure from the test kit.
