HIV symptoms after vaginal sex with a prostitute

Hi guys,
I hope you're having a good sunday and thank you for viewing my post.

I have a very urgent question regarding some symptoms I have been experiencing over the past 6 months or so which I think means I have HIV.

The risk I think was from about 2 or maybe 2 and a half years ago when I had sex with a prostitute. I was wearing a condom but it broke. I noticed it maybe 2 minutes after we started vaginal sex. I revceived oral with a condom and we did not have anal sex.

Starting from December of 2014, I started to get a rash on my face on a regular basis. I have always suffered from acne but I always managed my triggers of acne whereas these new rashes I get are unexplainable since I still control the triggers of my acne.

I also get cold sores regularly now. I would say every 3 months I get a cold sore now.
Moreover, I have persistent diarrhoea. I'm not sure about how regular my stools are soft but at least once a month I go through a period of having diarrhoea or very soft stools.

I also feel like my lymph nodes in my neck are bigger but I am not 100% sure on this because I've always had slightly excess skin under my chin/neck and I've gained around 10kg in the last 2 years so I don't know if the nodes are swollen or it's just appearing that way because of my weight gain and bone structure.

I am absolutely crushed right now. I feel worse than being told I have terminal cancer because then I wouldn't need to hide it at least. I have ordered a home testing kit for HIV which has a 99.7% accuracy but I need some help/advice in the meantime because that kit will arrive 2 days from now at the earliest and I can't sit still for 5 minutes. I am jumping out of my skin..

What are the chances I don't have HIV?

Yes they look very similar.

The only difference is Bio Sure is a blood test whereas Oraquick is saliva test.

Bio sure do the saliva test as well but the blood test is the most accurate, 99.7% compared with 95%

Hey guys, thank you all for your answers.

I got tested and the result came out negative.

I did the UK Bio Sure HIV self test which is approved by the NHS and has an accuracy of 99.7%

I have sent a blood sample for a lab test anyway to make sure.

Thank you again.

Okay.

I will come back and tell you the result of my test when it arrives on tuesday.

But I still cannot sleep or eat or do anything I'm in a state of shock.

One last time because I am badly in need of reassurance - my symptoms of prosacea spots, cold sores and diarrhoea along with the fact that I had unprotected vaginal sex with a prostitute could be something else?

Out of 100 what are the chances of someone like me getting a positive result?

Honestly, when tuesday comes around and I know my results for sure I will have a new appreciate for life. This is worse than a near death experience. I feel fatigued and drowsy and I think these have come just from my absolutely fear I have HIV.

Please tell me of any cases you kno of someone getting HIV from a single encounter with a prostitute?

Yeah, most likely you would've lost weight. However, you cannot use symptoms to diagnose with HIV. The only way to know your status is to test.

Missed out the *not* in my first sentence -- it should read 'the one hope I have that it is not HIV is....*

Thank you James!

The one hope I have that it might be HIV is that I've gained weight over the period in which I slept with the hooker. In those 2 years I've gained roughly 15-20lb in weight. Is it possible to gain weight and be HIV positive?

I read that HIV meds can increase your weight but that obviously doesn't apply to me since I've never been tested.

Thank you again for your reassuring words.

I am sorry you're feeling this way. However, the odds of you becoming positive over a one time encounter as the insertive partner are rather low.

Also, do not look on the Internet for HIV symptoms. You could google anything, then put "HIV," next to it, and it will tell you that it's a symptom. That's why the only way you can know your status is to test.

Hi thank you for your response.

I've never tested for HIV.

It's never been on my radar because I never ever take risks with unprotected sex. This was the single time in my life I did although it was unintentional beacuse I did wear a condom but it broke.

I have ordered a home testing kit ith 99.7% accuracy but that will arrive on Tuesday. The nearest clinics all close before I finish work tomorrow so home test kit was the earliest I can get results.

But I dont know how I'll manage to wait I am jumping out of my skin and feeling suicidal

Well, if you had unprotected sex you had a risk. You haven't tested any yet? You can take any test now for a conclusive result.
