You will have to ask the hospital why they are telling you that.
I agree , when i asked they said thats a normal procedure , but here everyone says when they did 4 th gen test , you guys say , conclusive .
Just for my learning purpose , could you please explain me .
28 days 4th gen test is conclusive or not? even though if we tested again after 3 or 6 months will the result get change?
Why i am asking , you said so many times for me , i have no HIV/STD risk , now i started believing all because of anxiety also i have taken anti depression pills. now i am Ok , for many people even they have NO RISK ,suffering from anxiety very much , at least after 28 days if they did this test , they will get relieve from anxiety.
Correct me if i am wrong.
28 day DUO test is conclsuive. 3 month antibody test is conclusive.
Thanks Vance , sorry if i irritated you :(
Not at all, just wasn't sure what you were getting at
i came out from my anxiety , i believe i can help others man, just doing your job.
thx sunny ure awesome and i did some researches .. dr hunter and dr hook says 4 weeks is conclusive and cdc too and the p24 test in combo is 3 weeks conclusive
Good luck man ure aweomse :)
In Europe they have been using the 4th Gen test for sometime and it is now accepted by the countries health agencies that 4 week's is conclusive for 4th Gen test. Only retest at 8 weeks if high exposure and accompanied by symptoms (latest BASHH recommendation).
In America they are only starting to be regularly used.
Like any new test or piece of new scientific knowledge, it takes people time to accept them. Once the 4th Gen tests completely replace the 3rd. 4 to 8 weeks will eventually replace 12 weeks as the official guidelines.
But it takes time.
I have to add that it is accepted by many experts and and HIV specialists, that 8 weeks is conclusive for modern 3rd Gen test.
Thanks man. I need to thanks Vance. Seriously anxiety is the big problem. Even some times now I am scaring. But I believe it's my anxiety. I have sore throat now. That because I smoked a lot for last 10 days. I wish everyone should live long life.
Why are you asking people's opinion when the science is clear? The DUO test is considered conclusive at 28 days and beyond post exposure. The new standard was just announced this past summer, so it will take time for this news to get out. Second, HIV is so rare in many parts of the country and in the US in general (less than 1% of the population in infected - and these are mostly concentrated in a few geographic localities and in a certain demoraphic) that HIV is not the first thing on most health professionals minds. Further, HIV treatment has advanced to the point that it no longer has the medical stigma it once did. Most medical professionals simply see it as a chronic, treatable condition. Lastly, when it comes to testing, even the current 3rd generation lab based HIV blood test will identify well over 90% of newly acquired HIV infections at 4 weeks. The DUO test actually beigins to identify this percentage at 14-18 days, but to ensure full 100%, it is advised to re-test at or beyond 28 days. I hope I didn't muddy the waters too much and this reply will help you put this testing issue into perspective.
You got me confused , because i just did Test 28 from the day of the event and you say at the end of your post beyond. So what is the correct answer?
The test is conclusive at any time at OR beyond 28 days. That means if you take the test at day 29 or day 999, or day 1,345, and so on... (with no other exposures) your test result is conclusive.
Is hiv1/2&p24 CIMIA method is conclusive at 29 days and 45 days, these tests were done in lal path labs New Delhi
The scientific evidence shows that p24 combo tests are conclusive at 28 days post exposure
Brilliant post Midnight Sun.
You certainly did not muddy the waters, but put clarity into confusion.
Take care.
Hi Anusherpess,
To answer your question.
Most experts and HIV specialists do now accept the 4th Gen test is conclusive at 4 week's.
Why then did I say 4 to 8 week's?
I am going to current BASHH guidelines.
In the past, they recommended retesting at 12 week's.
In November 2014 they updated their recommendations and reduced it to 8 week's for high risk exposure.
They still said that the vast majority will test positive by 4 week's and a retest should not need to happen.
The official organizations are slowly making progress with their guideline's ( such as the CDC).
A 4th Gen test is conclusive at 4 week's.
Hope this cleared this up.
Thanks Sharkboy. So A 4th Gen test is conclusive at 4 week's for any type of exposure (Low ,medium or High) ?
i have a doubt with DUO test is nothing but p24 Antigen & Antibody to HIV1 &2 serum test right?
if yes , will this test looks for all antibodies? someone having this doubt in our forum , i am not sure ,someone please help me .
In India , they called HIV-DUO by CMIA (IV the generation test) . - is this the same test which we are referring in the forum?
Could you please provide your comment
Why are you so concerned Sunny - I suggest you having overly high anxiety and you've received some very comprehensive answers, all of which I would trust. You are not going to receive a different answer from people contributing regularly to this forum.
