HIV transmission rates and probabilities

Hi, I heard that the approximate rate of transmission for unprotected vaginal sex from a HIV positive woman to a HIV negative man is 1 in 1000
So based on this, would that mean that the man would have to have unprotected vaginal sex with the woman for more than 2.5 years every day in order to catch the virus.
This doesnt make sense.

Could I please verify if this is true. Please advise me

Those numbers don't mean a thing. You can contract HIV on your first exposure. Use condoms correctly and consistently and you won't have a worry about contracting HIV and most STDs.

experts say its generally 1/1000 but it will depend on the viral load of the woman. It could go as much as 1/50 depending of the viral load

no it is  a theoretical figure.i dont know how it has been arrived at but you can get hiv from one encounter so i wouldnt trust the odds.
If the pos' person has been recently infected the odds are much much lower, no figure given for this that i know of.
