Hi,
I was at the supermarket yesterday and while picking fruits from a wooden basket I got a finger cut from a sharp edge of an iron nail which was sticking outside the wooden frame. The cut was superficial with only a tiny bleeding spot. As I do not know if someone before me got a skin cut in the same manner, I am wondering if this has put me in a risk of HIV transmission. There was not visible blood on the sharp edge.
I read in the medhelp website (doctors forum) that small cuts do not impose a risk, however there is also occasionally a time parameter mentioned that is related to how long the virus lives outside the body. My question is the following (maybe trivial question): is this incident a theoretical risk?
Thank you in advance
