HIV transmission11

Dear Dr

From your advice, it seems that HIV is actually not that an infectious a virus in comparison to others. ie, it is actually quite hard to catch sexually.

My question pertains to the high prevelance in southern africa, some quoate as high as 30%

To me this just does not seem to add up. these numbers suggest a very infectious disease?

can you please explain this??

Dr's do not post here.

HIV is not as easy to aquire as STD's but by no means would I use the word hard to catch. You have to understand that in Africa you are basically talking about where HIV started and a very very poor nation. Combine that along with lack of education, medical resources (treatment and testing) then your talking about a high percentage no matter what.
