HIV

Hi anyone,
could u please help me with my situation.
Recently i had unprotected sex with a girl and after about 3-4 weeks i had cold flu symptoms like a very mild sore throat which lasted just a single day, and blocked and running nose. no fever or anything. Then after that i had a diffused rash on the upper back for abt 8-10 days, which looked like sunburnt. i dint have no headaches. but the stress abt getting hiv made me loose my sleep, my appetite, etc etc. Any help please...

I think you are over reacting here, you need to calm down and bring some sanity back to rationally think that the girl has a very good chance of being HIV negative.

Firstly, symptoms mean a jack when it comes to HIV. I have seen some zillions of posters around complaining every possible symptoms the book reads and finally singing the happy whoo-hoo song with their negatives at the 12th week. Should you feel anxious, test at the 6th week and back it up with a final one at the 12th week. 6 weeks negative changing ahead is very unlikely and also be informed that one episode of intercourse would not put you in to a heavy risk but certainly warrants testing.

You'll be fine. Good luck.

Please go and get tested immediately and then follow up at 3 months for a conclusive test. Getting tested at the 6th-8th mark will provide you with a good enough result, but still follow up at the 3 month mark for an official result.

I'll keep my fingers crossed for you. But just a few words of advice. If you do come out to be HIV Positive, please know that with today's treatments you'll be able to live a long and normal life. While it may not be as normal as it was before -- at least you'll be able to live.

The reason why I say this is because so many people are expecting and praying for a Negative HIV result. But no one prepares themselves for a HIV Positive result. However, I did. And when the results came back positive for me I took a deep breath and simply asked the doctor "What are the next steps?".

So in advance -- don't be afraid. Just smile -- and either way, be greatful for the life God is provided you with. I'll keep you in my prayers for a Negative result though.
