I have a hiv blood test tommorrow. Needless to say I'm pretty freaked out with this. I had a high risk exposure, I have gotten 2 oral fluid hiv tests done and both were negative....Would a blood test pick up more than a oral swab test would. Both test were taken past the window period all except the first test which was at 5 weeks after low exposure kissing with a bleeding lip next one was taken at 98 days. As for my high risk exposure it would have been a few years. So as for this blood test tommorrow which is required for by my job insurance reasons. Whats the chance that it will change. Is there anything which would make the test read wrong. Any types of diseases that could give a wrong result?

The last high risk i had was with unprotected sex 3 times with high risky people, that was a few years ago and the low risk i talk about was a kiss that happend like 98 days ago wouldnt be so worried if I had not had a cut on my lip that was bleeding a little before and im worried it was still bleeding during and i dont know if they were bleeding. High risk> a few years earlier had 2 neg. oral fluid tests and Low risk> oral fluid at 5 weeks and one at 98 days both neg.  Have just taken 2 tests tho all togather.Maybe its just the idea that I have to take this blood test I dont know but I was wandering what you thought the chances were for me to be truley negative and this test not changing. There were no other exposures.

It is all about the timming, When was your last sexual activity? And I don't mean heavy petting, kissing, or dreaming about sex.  I mean the rated x stuff. If that was 3 months and longer, and you have been tested after those 3 months in the past....   then you already know the results for this pending test.

It is negative.  If you had sex less than 3 months ago, then this results in a nut shell, are honestly inconclusive.  The standard is 12 weeks after exposure, the test results are to be held as conclusive, and even then there is a rec. 6 month test just to bury the whole idea that you could or might have hiv.

Now that said, the more modern consensus in the medical world, seems to be testing after 6 weeks is OK, like 95% conclusive.  Float this site you will learn a lot.
