Hijack

After reading the post for a number of days I am quite shocked at the behavior of some of the 'Regular" experts. Do you really think your helping people? What makes one an expert on this forum to treat people with such disregard even if their posts are absurb to you such as getting HIV from a drink or by shaking hands. Are you a Dr or have a medical degree I doubt it. Read a couple of books and use the information that Dr H already provided such as

Oral, matual masterbation, fingering, etc NO RISK and anal and vaginal is a risk which at 6 weeks is a good indicator and 3 months conclusive.

And poof your an expert gooing geesh educate yourself, move on, you will be banned. This is a forum for open discussion "experts"

Most people who post know how you get HIV but are worried that they will be an exception to the rule or be part of the theoretical % and just want someone telling them that they will be ok... and if they shared IV Drugs, had unprotected sex anal/oral then they need to test. Give em a good luck and off they go. They may come back and say really again. Why such the hostilit, this is a forum, If you dont like stupid questions... simple dont answer.. If you could care less.. dont answer... but dont go you will be banned, reported.. WHY. what is the point...Yes the board will be full of posts but if you dont want to sift through them..that is your decision.

I simply cannot understand why the hostility of this HIV Good old boys club thinking you are doing someone a service. next time just cut and past a page prefabricated answer that covers what is a risk and what isnt or provide someone a link to the CDC. This is a forum for discussion not bully tactics...

I will expect and excccuuuuse me... MOVE ON, after this post but ask yourself are you really educating people of is there a god complex. I suggest a page blanket answer on what is a risk and what isnt and if they still have questions to see a Dr or perfrom a test for peace of mind... Not bullying people with hey I told you go away... seriously what you are doing is unethical and YOU should be reported because ANYONE can see what you are doing is NOT healthy or Ethical.....

We arent here to hold your hands we arent paid to do this true yes I had a risk I worried a few here they probably got sick of me Lizzie and me didnt get along. Guess what Me and Lizzie are on the same page now she is a great provider to this forum as I and Teak if you dont like the replys no one is paying you to stay here right? I have been here for 11 months this forum has changed so much it used to be so much trolling I hated it but the med help mafia got together and raised our concerns to med help and they listened to us and told us to give them a few days to help us get it under control and they did. Yes I have been warned many times in fact if I am warned again I will be banned. It just goes to show you that It takes it toll on you to here the same NON RISK QUESTIONS 49 TIMES A DAY. I have taken many breaks from here because one can test out to 12 months and still not get over they may have hiv my reply MOVE ON or one may come here I kissed a guy my reply NO RISK or I shook a guys hand and later wiped my butt do I have hiv my reply GET EDUCATED !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You see my point I have no compassion for someone who cant except there conclusive negative result or who cant come to terms they were never at risk. NOW MAYBE YOU GUYS WILL UNDERSTAND WHERE WE COME FROM if not then MOVE ON

Was your question answered or was it not? If you don't like the way things are done on this forum your best bet is to move on to another forum.

I can see your point....trying to provide too much explanation probably stirs up more questions, but on the other hand this gruff "move on" statement from Teak (which he must have copied to his clipboard for ease of response) is just...well...uncalled for unless it is in response to some troll that reposts over and over about the same concern, or from some person who does not do their homework before posting some stupid question.  Guess it is just his style.  Some people probably need the directness. Oh...and I don't know what he is referring to about me "posting in other people's threads".  This is the only one I have ever responded with a comment too because after spending all of the time reading the posts yesterday, I was shocked by some of the crappy responses and shared the same opinions that coolio did.

There are quite a few people starting threads on here who seem very ignorant about the topic and could probably find their answers to their questions in a much simpler manner than posting here, so I can imagine that it gets old responding all of the ****.  I guess it would make me a little "short" with people too at times.

Overall.....I think this is a great outlet for people to have their concerns addressed by some knowledgable people, is a good educational resource, and let's us all know that we are not alone in our moments of panic and craziness.

Every poster has a different posting style, but in the end...it is the answer is what matters.  I have tried both methods to an extent....and I notice when I am more detailed, and more personable (which is in my nature)...the less my answers are accepted, and the more PM's I get!  LOL

Also....the risk statistics have been posted here and in the expert forum, LITERALLY ad nauseum.

You may critisize Teak for his posting style....but, there is nothing wrong with saying..."No risk from what you describe".  I mean, how much clearer of an answer can you get?

When you elaborate...people freak.  I have tried to explain to some that the amount of blood needed to put someone at risk in a "blood to blood" type situation would have them basically in the ICU.  They lose it and say."WHAT DID YOU MEAN BY THAT?????"  Damned if you do, and damned if you don't.  At least Teak's replies have no room for interpretation.

You want a counseling center you go elsewhere, this is not a counseling center and by the way most of what you post in other people threads shows that you know anything about HIV. MOVE ON.

I totally agree with coolio, but I see the point of nursegirl and LIZZIE somewhat.  I am brand new to this forum (never visited it until a couple of days ago).  I feel that I am probably more educated on HIV than most posters to this forum, and I posted a very concise and legitimate post a couple of days ago that resulted in some very brief minimalistic responses.  I am not OCD about my situation or some loser that sits on these forums trying to get people all fired up.  I spent about 2 hours yesterday just reading through some of the posts and responses, and I agree with coolio in that a majority of the responses are very short and demeaning.  Mostly from teak.  The "you're not at risk for HIV....move on", or "get educated and move on" responses show no compassion for these posters who are freaking out about the possibility that they may be infected.  Some of the responses where people were told they were at no risk and to quit worrying, do not even coincide with anything I have read on many other web sites concerning modes of transmission and risk.  Anyway....I think the responses should be a little more compassionate and have a little more explanation as to why the responder feels there is no risk.....like maybe stating the risk statistics at least.  Sorry we are all cutting into your personal time you volunteer for this forum, but if you are not going to answer the questions with a little "meat and potatoes", then why bother.

great post and explaination nursegirl.

coolio...you have NO idea what we, the regulars go through.  we are not paid to be here...we give our time freely.

hhhuuummm...i checked...and just yesterday, i received 7 pm's.  all of these were from ppl who i and others had already given answers to.  but for some reason...they felt that if they sent me a private message, that the answer might change.

i have been on this forum for 17 months...and by now can pretty much "pick em out".  bet you didnt know that we have one member who has come back and used over 40 different screen names.  there is not a week that goes by that i dont find and report, oh at least 10 ppl who are using multiple screen names.  we, the regulars, work very closely with the moderators of this site and are in constant contact with them trying to keep some order on this site.

we pretty much HAVE TO read each and every thread, so that we can make sure that other posters are not giving out wrong information (which is a constant)...or that the post does not have potential for starting some kind of mass hysteria.

you stated..."Most people who post know how you get HIV but are worried that they will be an exception to the rule or be part of the theoretical % and just want someone telling them that they will be ok... and if they shared IV Drugs, had unprotected sex anal/oral then they need to test."  YOU ARE WRONG!!!  most ppl that come to this site suffer from extreme anxiety and/or ocd in ALL aspects of their life...not just regarding hiv.  they cannot except the facts and will post over and over and over and over again about the same thing...our answers never wavering.  at the very top of this page you can read what this forum's purpose is.  nowhere does it state that this is a psychological counseling service.  we will judge your risk...discuss condoms...and anything regarding testing.  what we wont do is play games and waste the forums space on ppl who need to seek professional mental help for their issues.

so before you go bashing the regulars...you should live "behind the scenes" as we do.  if not for us...this forum would be a wash!  the rules here have a purpose...and they will be imposed, like it or not!!!

That type of response may seem harsh...but it is tha nature of this kind of forum.  To allow someone to incessantly post over and over about a NO risk situation...or after a CONCLUSIVE test doesn't help the forum....nor does it help the poster at all...in fact it will likely increase their anxiety to continue encouraging them.  Also, it creates a basic hysteria even among lurkers.

That is why there was very specific rules set forth by MH themselves to address these issues and put limits to these types of irrational posts.  See MH's post that is attached to the top of the page.

**covers what is a risk and what isnt or provide someone a link to the CDC**

For 90+% of the posters...you could draw them a picture and give them a note from their doctor to take our advice...and they STILL won't.  Have you REALLY read the forum?

**And poof your an expert gooing geesh educate yourself, move on, you will be banned. This is a forum for open discussion "experts" **

With the persistence of these people who will NOT stop asking and re-phrasing the same question despite getting the SAME answer from 4-5 different people....the "regs" for a lack of a better term HAVE to be tough and straightforward.  PLUS...just let me tell you....you should see the amt of PM's a person who replies in this forum gets.  Often times THEY come over and over despite your answer on the forum AND in private.

A person posting for the 1st time isn't told they will be banned...they are told to FINALLY move on after not accepting their test results....or INSISTING they have a risk when they didn't.  Then, they come back with a new id, which of course is against the rules as well.

Just don't be so quick to "judge" yourself...aren't you doing the same thing?

Continuing to "coddle" these people only harms THEM in the end....they need the truth in black and white.  Also, they are abusing the forum for the person who may have really had a risk, or hasn't got to ask THEIR question yet.  A lot of the "worried wells" will post 3-4 threads all on the 1st page!  If they don't get an answer in 5 min, they post again, or start another thread.

If there weren't rules in place...this place would be even MORE mass chaos than it already is!!!!
