Had unprotected sex 3 weeks ago now a swollen lymph node

Hello,
I had mistakenly unprotected sex with a someone (hetero-sexual) 3 weeks ago, I should have worn a condom but she said she was on the pill and I was pretty drunk. Now in the last week a swollen lymph node has appeared in my right armpit. At first is was sore and painful but after 2 days the pain went and it's not tender. What do you suggest I do?
Thanks a lot.

Ok, thanks for your help. But I just want to clarify, can you be conclusive that this swollen lypmh node in my armpit has no connection to HIV as it was painful when it first appeared?

Also, is it possible that swollen lymph nodes can appear for no specific infection etc just com up randomly in response to nothing serious at all.

Thanks

Not even at first or later on. You did put yourself at risk and need to test. 3 month post exposure will give you a conclusive test result.

Not even at painful at first?
I'm sure it's pretty unlikey that I have HIV, but i'm just young and paranoid.

I just read this and makes me confident that the swollen lymph node has no connection to HIV:

In the first world, where secondary sexually transmitted diseases are treated and most men do not have sores on their penises, a man has a better chance of getting struck by lightning than getting infected with HIV from a women, in other words, a 1/600,000 chance.

Thanks

Swollen lymph nodes with HIV are not painful.
