If you started PEP you should finish your course unless you have discussed it with your Doctor and he advises you to stop.
That said you really shouldnt have taken PEP as it now delays the time before you can determine conclusively your HIV status (three months after your last dose of PEP).
why do you say i shouldnt have started it? is it because it was too low risk? thanks in advance
nPEP is only given to people that have had a high risk exposure with a person who is Hiv+.You don't know if the csw had Hiv or not so your exposure was moderate. Most csw get tested every 3 Months.
I have emailed the hotel, to ask her as it was a 5* crowne plaza but you never know. once the condom broke, she canged it from her own supply, so i thought that was good that at least she practiced safe sex (hopefully!!)
Is it so very difficult to catch HIV from a woman as the internet suggests? some internet sites suggest it is practically impossible to catch it and that its a load of propaganda?
It is much harder to for a man to contract Hiv from a woman then the other way around. If I were you I would have a DUO test 4 weeks after your last dose of nPEP and then a final test at 12 weeks. All the best.
thanks appreciate your response. Is it wise then for me to continue with the PEP in you opinion?
also is a duo test not possible at 4 weeks post exposure?
basically what im trying to get at in my normal babbling way is if other people were in my shoes, would theycontinue with PEP, stop it
You might aswell finish it now that you started it.Then once you have finished it,wait 4 weeks and then have the DUO.
Wrong, you would take a antibody test 3 months post the last dose of nPEP. Not an antigen test.
so any tests before this are irrelevant as ive read that it is possible to be tested 4 weeks post exposure even on PEP
You do not take an antigen test after nPEP you take an antibody test.
so if i stop will i be stupid to do so or can i stop and get a quick test? really sorry to keep posting no doubt already answered questions but i am beside myself!!
3 months after your last dose.
Should have read three months post exposure + last dose whichever is the greatest.
from what i've told you do you believe my chances to be small?
Your odds are 1 in 10,000.
You don't place odds on HIV.
the hotel have emailed back saying that the girls have a strict policy on testing and also condom usage. taking this into account would i still be foolish to stop PEP? if i did stop today 12/12/11 what time scale could i get tested at?
You never rely on anyone's word.
but can someone please tell me why not to get a 10day post exposure test or ten days post PEP
Why? They aren't accurate that is why.
