Being a nervous mess since my possible exposure and feeling what I've read to be symptoms, I took the Home Access test at 7,11,14, and 19 weeks. These tests all came back negative. The consoleur and posting questions here, assured me that my tests were pretty much conclusive and my symptoms mean nothing. Anyways, I called the CDC to get some info on home access testing and they told me that the FTC has issued a warning about "home testing". The warning was given concerning that accuracy of the "Home test" because of the possible errors that can arise and the occasions that the test wasn't accurate.
Now you may notice that I put "home test" in quotes. That's because that was how the CDC conselor said it to me. I then raced on the internet to see if such warning was indeed concerning the "Home access" test on the FTC website. I could not find anything except a warning from 1999 concerning non FDA approved test.
I called the CDC again today just to clarify that I couldn't find the warning. The conselor reiterated that though the test is FDA approved, that the FTC has issued a warning concerning home testing accuracy--home testing being the Home Access test.
Basically what I'm trying to get at is...
1. Should I even consider trusting my results, my lasted being 19 weeks, considering my symptoms
-- lots of gas (farting), burping
-- hunger pains
--had a stiff neck for a month
--some back pain
--no temperature
--slight constipation
2. How, if there are FTC warnings, could this product be availble if questions concerning the accuracy are raised? I mean honestly, something like HIV testing really shouldn't be a second guessing sort of thing.
For those reading this and those that have used a Home Access test, I'm not trying to scare you. However, I know that it's too late. Just thought that it isn't right that information isn't availible that concerns matters of this nature.
Any thoughts would be great
