How long if exposed to give to another

I recently posted and found comfort in response but I am just curious about a question and others might be also.
IF exposed...and IF in fact HIV was contracted. How long until it is your body that the virus goes to levels where it can be given to someone else and that person contract tthe virus? Immediatly? one day? one week? Have been told that a person is most infectious when in first stage. Is that true and what is "first stage"?

Theoretically, 2 days is enough to become infectious.
But practically, I doubt that people are infectious until after a week is up.
Like it was said above, recently infected people are most infectious, because that is when the viral load is at the highest.

based on these two repsonses it sounds like this might be a good question, not a clear answer so far....or does it matter?

Minimun two or three days at least will take the virus to replicate and appear in body fluids in infectious quant. The mean could be 7 days.

I believe you are considered infectious minutes after becoming infected yourself.  A person is considered most infectious 3-4 weeks after contracting the virus, before the immune system has had time to launch a fight.
