hiv from blood

I did work with some one that had hiv we were roofing
he got cut & I got his blood on me if I had a cut could I have got it

Yes, HIV is definitely transmitted in this way from blood to an open wound. In fact there have been documented cases of HIV seroconversion from blood to chapped but otherwise intact skin. Please report this as soon as possible to your local ED.
