Joint Pain - is it a symptom of being hiv positive?

3 weeks back i had sex with a prostitute but i used condom and i never did a intercourse, but i had a oral sex nd then she did a hand job..after 2 days i had a mild fever nd soar throat, the fever lasted for 5 days. Now after 3 weeks iam having a small pain in my ankles, in palm joints and some muscles, i never had this sort of pain before. i dont knw whether i am infected from hiv, but i didnt do any un-protective practice..I am really afraid. Can any one help me out what the reasons might be? I was doing sex for the first time nd it resulted out like this.

I have had joint pains over a year, I have had unprotected sex a few times but I am soo scared to get tested for hiv. My ex got tested and she was negative. My girlfriend is 7 months pregnant and she been tested twice and she is negative.  I got tested for all other std apart from hiv and I got told I had heptacis B but it was going out of my blood so I didn't need any care.
I have stop having sex with other women but I haven't been able to sleep properly over a year or so.

No worries. I used to have horrible joint pains that kept me awake at night and sore throat for 1 month plu s a long lasting headache and the test came back negativ. I do believe that worrying to much about it makes you have the symptoms. In the end is all in the brain.

I had a sex with sexworker 1 month back. I used two condoms at same time and according to me it was a protected sex. But after 15-20 days I have started feeling weakness and got a severe joint pain now. The joint pain is not constant and it's spreaded over various parts of my body like fingers, feet, chest etc. I had a cold in between for 3-4 days but I didn't had any fever which was significant. But I had some severe mouth ulcers during this month.
I got tested myself exactly 1 month after the sex and the result was negative. Are there any chances that I might have got infected with HIV? Do i need another test? What could be the cause of joint pains?

Hi Desperate194,

I got a anti-body test at 1 month and it was negative. I even paid for a PCR DNA test at 2 weeks and it came back negative as well. My doc and counsellors all tell me I'm fine and my risk is low-to-no risk. They tell me I need not go back for testing anymore. My pain are still there. But it has lessen somewhat but definitely still there. How about you? Did you get yourself tested?

Like Teak said, all experts are telling us our risk is just not there. I have spent much on testing. I'm going to get tested after 3months and put everything behind me if it is negative.

Your case cause me both concern and noconcern; why? because I had unprotected a month and half agon, and two weeks later I got fever, cough, phlemg, and I still have the cough a bit. This was either the Flu or?

but exatcly a week and half later I develped joint pain, in my arms, ankles, fingers, and shoulders, etc.

The woman I had sex with tested, and she is negative. Now I am taking antibiotics for this; it feels like malaise; I wonder if her test was false;

I tested at 5 weeks and NEGATIVE; so perhaps this from the FLu; but you wore a condom; you have similar joint pain; perhaps it is from the flu as well

you had no risk your fine and joint pain can be caused by many reasons arthritis or your flu you had could of caused it a lot of things but in your situation you were never at risk

Hi buddy,

I understand what you are going through. I am have neck, back pains, muscles pains and joint pains (wrist and elbow). It's very scary. I think I may have HIV too. Sigh.

But these may also be due to anxiety and depression. Are you as worried as I am? Are you sleeping well? I went to see my GP and he says it can be due to stress, anxiety and depression.

I will pray for us both that we will be al right. I will hang in there and take a test. You should too. Good luck.

Oral sex unprotected isnt even a risk so protected oral is beyond a reason of a doubt no risk.
