Just a bit worried, any information appreciated

Hi everyone. First off like to say I appreciate any responses or information back.

I am a 23 year old female. A little while back I was at a party and got "involved" with a male friend. To make a story short, I had given him a ******** and he did ejaculate into my mouth. Did not think much about it at that time. About month and a half later I did get a sore throat with swollen lymph node on one side of neck, in a few days followed by complete nasal congestion, couldnt breathe through my nose at all. So the sore throat basically led into the cold, no fever. This was in the summer.

Anyways, I know symptoms can be anything and are not indicative of HIV.  I am a registered nurse myself but just looking for some reassurance I guess about chances of it happening. A little bit confused on whether oral is a risk for transmission or not, with or without ejaculation. Some people say it is, some say it isn't.

Any advice or information would be great. Sorry to bother anyone.

Hello, tear through the forum and read the doctor's responses. Unprotected oral is no risk. Spend a little time relaxing and read through this site. Your fine. If you have doubt, the test. Maybe that would give you the piece of mind that your looking for. I am glad that you at least know that symptoms mean nothing. If you have further comments you can always send me a PM - e-mail. If anyone else thought you had a risk they would have already posted. Talk to you soon.

Thank you for your response. Actually this was awhile back, not this summer, a few summers ago. I actually had a physical shortly after the sore throat started, the physical was for before nursing school began for that year. I told my MD about the throat and he looked and did not prescribe me anything so I figured all was okay. I can be a bit of a hypochondriac especially with what I work with in my career field.
So whatever it was I'm assuming all is well, it cleared up pretty quickly.
I just wanted to ask because you read in textbooks and websites and hear many different things. And I actually did not know that HIV could not be transmitted through oral sex, until reading a few things. I always thought it was a considered a risk, maybe not as much as anal/vaginal sex, but otherwise still a risk, so that's why I was questioning. I guess because of the sore throat and swollen lymph node shortly after I got kind of afraid, even though those symptoms led into what seemed to be a summer cold.
Thanks for your advice

Hello, Oral is not a risk, STD's yes. This is the site that you want to stick to for information. Knowledge is power. So you are in the clear as far as HIV. Maybe you have a throat infection, or tonsilitis?
