Hello. I am a heterosexual woman who gave a handjob to a heterosexual male, HIV status unknown. My concern is around a small paper cut on the outside edge of my pinky finger. The hand with the cut (which was maybe .5 cm and not bleeding) was the one in contact with the penis. Althought there was pre cum near the head, the pinky finger was nearer the base (and therefore had less exposure to fluids). The man finished himself off and when we were done, I used some hand sanitizer, which alerted me to the paper cut , which I had not previously noticed. What are the potential risks involved, regarding STI's in particularly HIV? I am prone to anxiety and am extremely worried about this scenario. Any advice would be appreciated. thank you

There is no risk, but a test after 2 months is accurate.

Also, I am eternally grateful for your feedback and advice.  I am struggling to come to terms with this and I probably should get tested.  If the exposure was September 14, would a rapid test be accurate this soon?  (only two months post exposure )

Just to clarify, the papercut was recent, maybe 40 minutes old (not bleeding) and I am fairly certain that the finger in question did in fact have some contact with pre-seminal fluid...

You are not at risk in any way, shape or form.

HIV is a fragile virus and it's outer shell is destroyed when exposed to changes in PH and Oxygen levels rendering it unable to infect seconds after leaving its host.

In adults, HIV is transmitted by:

Unprotected Anal/Vaginal Sex
Sharing IV drug equipment
Direct blood contact as in infected blood transfusions.

Uses condoms for vaginal and anal sex, and you will avoid HIV infection
