Nervous

I had unprotected sex with one of my best friends. He is a pretty healthy guy. Well I know he had chlamydia in the past. I got check up for all STDs and a pap smear 1 week after and all came back negative and normal. I even did a orasure HIV test and it came back negative. I want to go back to do one 6 weeks after on Feb 29 just for my mind sake.

Can someone tell me the high risks? Or if i am worrying over nothing?

Paranoid...

We're in the same boat but instead of chlamydia, I got gonorrhea. Joy. I did a rapid test at 18 days too.. and it was negative. Despite the apparent health of our partners, we can't rely on that...however, I'm sure your best friend wouldn't willfully put you in danger, so what you're fearing is the unknown and the remote possibility he's positive. Just take a deep breath and realize that you're gonna get through this. :)

My 6 week mark is on the 29th as well. But Teak is right, 3 months is the gold standard for being conclusive. I can't guarantee that you're not infected, but what I can do is let you know that you're not alone. Some steps to ease your fears:

1. If he's your best friend, ask him to test. If he's negative, it will go a long way to calm your fears.

2. Try to understand that HIV isn't invincible like it was in the 80's. Its still a very rough thing to deal with, but IF your positive, its not the end of the world.

3. Get involved to center your mind. If you keep living in your brain, you'll have problems. Go and volunteer for something. That helps tremendously.
