Does the Long term past matter?

A few questions for the forum.  I have been with several women of different nationalities in the past few years.  I have most recently started having symptoms of a noticable degree though.  I have recently been tested at 6 months with EIA which was negative but a few questions remain and was hoping the forum would answer PLEASE.

1.  Would the HIV tests I take here in the UNITED STATES detect ALL strains of HIV(is there a chance that CRF's/other strains not detected)?
2.  Does EIA look for Antibodies in general or for specific subtype/strain?
3.  If I had HIV for some time would have these tests show antibodies still.  Is there ever Antibody burnout?

I appreciate if you guys/gals woiuld answer as I have persistent symptoms.  IF tests I have had would be foolproof at 6 months, then its not HIV.

Thanks all

You are over reacting to this whole scenerio here... First your doc should not be sending you to a special dr because of your anxiety.. You need to sit down with someone and talk it out and let them calm your fears... Has your doc prescribed you an anxiety pill?? Try to move forward and except you dont have HIV dont go backwards you will never get over the hill.. Goodluck..

No, you need therapy because you will not drop this HIV anxiety you have.

Do you live in the rural parts or had unprotected sex with someone from the rural parts of Africa? Doubt it, you have no worries about different strains.

A 3 month negative never turns positive...simple as that.

I understand where you are coming from.  I sought out another opinion of another primary care doctor.  He did not know/have any other thoughts on my current situation.  She is considering sending me to an infectious disease specialist.  So back to questions posted before about different strains, are there any odd ones?  DO the current tests pick up the odd ones even if not stated in the literature about the tests?  If you or a doctor would like to comment on that scenario it would be great.  Also, have you seen any 6 month negatives turn to poz while you have been here?
Thanks
P.S. I do not need therapy, just a medical explanation.
