OraQuick negative 28 and 42 day. I'm guilt ridden!! Help!

I had a crazy night 42 days ago and lost track of my mind it seems! I was at a strip club with a friend and the strippers took us to the back. He and I are in separate rooms both, severely intoxicated, as she is dancing for me she pulled my penis out and had unprotected sex with me right then and there. It did not seem for very long, if it matters, I believe the first time was only for less than a minute and the second time was probably less than ten minutes. I didn't climax if that matters or not. Before she did it I remember her asking me if I was clean? I remember saying something like if anybody is worrying it should probably be me!!! (Can you believe it!!!!! I had a chance to stop it then!) Now I'm on 42 days of worrying myself to death. I can't sleep a good nights sleep and I'm just worried to death.

Recently I started having cold symptoms dry scratchy throat and coughs this has been for about 3 days now... Other than that nothing really is different at the moment.

Sorry about the details but I figured compared to being scared about HIV infection this is nothing. Apparently, I was too mentally inhibited to fully realize what was going on. After the event I have been ridden with guilt over my slip up with another girl and the fact that she was a stripper. I mentioned that part to see if that was relevant??? Is she a higher risk person?? Why am I asking she probably is the classic high risk, black stripper and hot as hell!!! I don't want to seem to alarmed but I have had trouble sleeping and I've been unable it seems to have a calm day that wasn't guilt ridden since then.

I've gone and had two tests done both are the OraQuick variety that are antibody tests. I've tested negative on day 28 and day 42. The nurse testing told me there is no point in my coming back before 6 months. They don't seem to knowledgeable about the 3 month window for some reason.

1) How do I deal with the anxiety and stress? There is a wife and new-born son involved. I hate myself right now and will make it up to them 100 times over if I'm negative!!!!

2) What are my chances of contracting HIV 1 or 2 in this scenario?

3) Are there any alternative tests that I can take in the US to give me more sure results, without having to wait another 48 days or longer? It seams the AntiBody tests are most accurate post 6 months per all my reading on the CDC websites.

4) If there are alternative tests approved in the US how do I find them and get them done ASAP??

Please help!

Vance2335,

First, thanks for responding, much appreciated!!!!

Since I had a PCR (RNA) and ELISA done at the same time  at 45 days post risky-stupid behavior that gives me a really-really good indication that my 3 months Rapid (ELISA) will be NEGATIVE right?

Or have I missed something important along the way?

I have no clue what you are asking rest easy until the 3 month mark. Any negative is good, but 3 months is conclusive. PCR is not approved for diagnostic means.

Guys,

I've been going through hell! I did a round of tests last Friday and I'm just getting the result back from the HIV-1 RNA PCR test. It came back negative. I also had an ELISA antibody test done at the same time which was negative.

I completely understand the three month rule and I'm waiting until then to do a rapid test to re-confirm the set of tests I've had so far. Can you let me know if I should calm down a bit? I've been worried sick and every little symptom cough, sneezing, itching, pain I've attributed to 100% sure HIV infection.

I just need to know your gut feel on how likely I am to turn out positive after testing negative so far to the following:

Day - Result - comment

28 - NEGATIVE - Rapid OraQuick Advanced - whole blood
42 - NEGATIVE - Rapid OraQuick Advanced - whole blood
45 - NEGATIVE - ELISA lab test vein blood
45 - NEGATIVE (NOT-DETECTED) - HIV-1 RNA PCR

Also negative-Syphilis, negative-Hepatitis B, negative-Chlamydia, and negative-Gonorrhea

Now can I rest easy until my three month mark gets here essentially another 40 days? Or do I need to keep this up?

Basically can I be confident that I'm negative and continue safe sex practices with my wife?

Please respond if you have a few minutes to spare it would do me a great deal of good if you would.

Thank you in advance!

Just got some results back:

Negative on HIV Antibodies (still good sign :), Syphilis, Hepatitis B, Chlamydia, and Gonorrhea.

Unfortunately the HIV RNA PCR and Herpes  1&2 IgM test are going to take possibly through the end of the week to return. Mean while, I'm trying to occupy myself as much as possible so I stay off the Internet. Possible results tomorrow if I'm lucky otherwise Thurs/Friday.

Wish me luck on the last two.

I'm just reporting back past few days have been horrible. Lots of guilt and depression and too much Internet surfing looking for symptoms. So I decided on Friday that I should have a full panel done across the board and try to determine status:

Also found information on high stress/anxiety and a lot of the HIV symptoms are the same... so I hope that's all the sore-throat runny nose and cough is from. Immune system deficiency and caught a cold along the way.

So I got the following tests done and I should be getting my results back by Friday of next week:

1: HIV 1- RNA PCR  and HIV 1/O/2 Antibodies

2: RPR Syphilis

3: Hepatitis B Surface Antigen

4: Chlamydia PCR

5: Gonorrhea PCR

6: Herpes 1&2 IgM (non type specific) --- I have a feeling this will come back positive because my wife has had cold sores all her life and its a Herpes type of virus in her case. I got an outbreak of cold sores once so we will see...

Wish me luck folks!

Never again will I let this happen :-(.

Trying to do all I can to keep my mind off this meanwhile.

Cheers!

Teak and Mathematician,

Thanks for your input. I am 100% in agreement with the advise. If this comes out negative I will have some work ahead of me to fix my other high-risk behavior that got me here to begin with.

Wishing you the best!

Cheers

If you had unprotected vaginal or anal sex the only test you need is your 3 month tests. You still need to avoid unprotected sex with your wife until you have received a conclusive test result.

mathematician,

Just want to confirm that I don't have to necessarily do it on day 30 but rather 30+ is that correct? So a test on day 31 or 39 etc would suffice?

Regards!

Indeed you put your self at risk therefore testing is warranted at 3month consiquently there are chances you could still be negetive but no living can assure that, only test can sum it up.

Teak,

Appreciate the quick response so, I'm just at the end of the window period it happened March 24th. I'm literally 42 days since does this mean anything? Do you imply I'm high risk and should go back after three months with a print out of this page?

What about the other questions? I see you have posted a lot!

appreciate the help and direction!
