Oral Sex Male to Male

Hello;
I have been HIV negative after 3 tests in the past 5 years - and I haven't had sex until I "screwed up" on New years Eve day.  I met up with a slightly older guy (me being 39) and I perfromed oral sex on him.  He said he was DD free and his penis looked healthy and my mouth was healthy too.  He did not have a lot of pre-cum nor did I allow him to cum inside my mouth.  I continuously spit after each time I put his penis is my mouth too.
I am really freaking out now and scared to death that I really screwed up my life.
Please let me know if:
I need testing for HIV becasue of this
I should be worried sick
etc...
Thank you for your time in advance!

Oral sex does not transmit HIV. Saliva has over a dozen different proteins and enzymes that inhibit HIV transmission.

Thanks Lizzie.  I guess my biggest fear is that I read the internet!  Even the CDC says there is a slight and low (minimal) risk of getting HIV from oral sex.  I know they have to post that because of some cases I guess that have been reported from oral sex - but I think only because semen and ejaculation occurred and was swallowed or spit out.  I know that the level of HIV in pre-cum is also low (some say it is just as hight though) but again, doesn't it take quite a bit of HIV infected semen or blood to get the virus?  I just hate to read anywhere else... because these sites make it out to sound like there is such a bigger risk.  Your response again is greatly greatly appreciated.  I just want to be able to move on here and not need to worry about testing again.

Hey there

Believe it or not I had the same experience last year in September and through the advice of countless professionals - there is no risk.

Just to reassure you listen to the advice from Freedomhealth UK, they are one of the leading HIV clinics in the world, seriously I did my research.

Here's what they say about oral sex (WITH EJACULATION) yours was without ejaculation so you have no risk:

"Oral sex represents a negligible to very low risk of transmission because of a number of different complimentary factors. These include the fact that cells lining the mouth and throat tend to be resisatant to HIV infection; that saliva contains HIV inhibitory enzymes; and that the chemical composition of saliva interferes with the chemistry inside cells which do become infected."

You can read it on their official website here: http://www.freedomhealth.co.uk/sexual-health/hiv-risk/170/

The doctors at this clinic are some of the best in the world, and people routinely go to them for advice, so trust me when I say you can rely on this advice.

Also the fact that there was no cum involved -no risk .

Hope this helps, I'm a worried well too you know so I know full heartedly what you are going through.

Don't sweat it!  If you live in the US or somewhere that offers NAAT HIV testing you can get it as soon as 10 days after this exposure and it will give you a definitive result since it looks for the virus itself.
