Oraquick Negative test result after 6 years of possible exposure

Hello,

I am a 32 year old male straight.

One thing happened during my grad school is haunting me for the past few months. I had a protected vaginal sex with my college mate. I checked the condom also, it was not broken. I was not aware of her HIV status. Later, I got to know that she was into drugs and must be sharing needles (I am not 100% sure.) She said she was negative. So I forgot that incident completely. After 6.5 years for the past 3 months I have been experiencing muscles pain and joint pains (comes and goes) . I googled for my symptoms and came across this HIV thing. Since then, I was not the same person could not concentrate on anything. One day I got a courage to test my self (3 months back) with OraQuick oral swab test. It came back negative, after that I have taken 13 more same tests one week a part. All of them are clear negative. A total of 13 tests are negative. I’m happily married for 3 years. I never had any other relation other than one mentioned earlier. I worry about my wife health more than anything else. I love her a lot. I can not even think of infecting her. So I asked her to take the OraQuick oral swab test 3 times. She got negative 3 times. Can I take these results as conclusive? Do you think these tests could be wrong 13times on me and 3 times on my wife? I am worried because of the false negative stories around the internet. I called the OraQuick support center and they confirmed that these tests can not mess up 13 times. Confirmed that I dont need any further testing. I know I am sounding crazy but can not help with my anxiety. I went for a regular blood work last week. Its completely alright. Other than Vitamin D deficiency. My GP doctor said vitamin D deficiency could cause joint pains. What do you think about my story. Shall trust these results and move on?

Six years is a long time to have an irrational fear.  You never had any risk.  Ever. That in itself should resonate to you that you've been wasting a lot of time and energy with this.  The only risks are to have unprotected vaginal or anal sex or share IV drug needles to inject drugs. You've tested and tested and tested dragged your wife into to test her.  It's sincerely at this point a mental health issue.  Your anxiety is not allowing you to accept the facts. We can't and won't keep reassuring you. You have your answer. And your unnecessary tests that have all been negative further give you facts. But you still ask.  Work on your anxiety with a professional.  best of luck to you

I had a blood test at a planned parenthood and its negative. Thank you all for your support.
It was confirmed by science long ago that you had no risk. All 14 of your tests were just placebo tests since you won't accept science and instead made up your mind that you know better than the scientists. If you start worrying again then consider therapy to deal with this long term hiv fixation.

You can't get hiv when you used a condom so it's good that you forgot about this non-event for 6 years. If a condom fails it rips down the seam so you don't have to do a close inspection. Every test was a waste of time since you had no exposure. You really need to stop associating muscle pains with hiv diagnosis. THe first step will be to stop googling cold turkey and the second is to stop studying your body for clues to a disease you don't have. Hundreds of millions of negative people have joint pains just like you.
