I am a 35 year old gay alcoholic male, (HIV Negative). I had a relapse and I had a "black out" ( a period of time that I do not remember ). The man that I was with looked gaunt, he did not ejaculate inside of me. I do know this. However, I believe that he did insert his penis into my rectum for a short time. I know that Pre-ejaculate can carry the HIV virus, thus putting myself at risk. I told this man, about my fears once I awoke in the AM. He oddly stated that he would pay for the pills! This made me worry more. I then called my doctor & he started me on PEP. Within an hour of taking the pills I had diarrhea and nausea. Today on Day 4 the diarrhea has subsided, however, the nausea has remained but is tolerable. I happened to get hold of this mans phone # and I did call him and tell him that I had started to take the PEP. He assured me that " we passed out and did not do anything". He then told me that he was testsed on 12/24/07 and was Negative. This contradicts, what he said the morning after the incident. Needless to say I am scared and I am back in AA. I see my primary doc in two days. I believe that my risk without ejaculation is less, however, I realize that risk is still present. Many men lie about their status and this man was also an active alcoholic and I got a bad vibe from him. The sad part is because of my "black out", I do not remember what happpened that night. My close friends tell me to stay on the meds, that it is better to be safe than sorry. Can you please do me a favor and give me your opinion? Thank you.
