Please help me!

6 Weeks ago i slept with a prostitute. Its been the worst 6 weeks of my life. 13 days afterword i began to feel crazy fatague. When i stepped on the scale i had lost 8-10 pounds. Shes did oral on me and had blood in her mouth from an open sore on her lip. I also had vaginal sex with her but i wore a condom, i think it was intact afterwords but i was so drunk im not really sure. She charged 50 dollars and i met her on the street which makes me think she is a drug addict. I also had alot of Diarraha. So its now 6 weeks later and im not feeling quite the amount of fatague but i have small red spots on my trunk and well as a small pencil eraser size bruise like spot which does not hurt at all. So of course i was freaked over the symptoms i already mentioned, i took a rapid test at the 6 week mark, it came back negative but since the test my arm pits are very sore and i have NEVER expeirenced that. I dont know im just freaking out.... Does anyone have any take on this? My symptoms started 13 days after my encounter, i have NEVER had spots -rapid weight loss with no diet change and sore arm pits! Im just baffled at the coincedence. Please help me. also please keep in mind i never thought about HIV once until i started having the symptoms. Im not one of these people freaking over being cut by a blade or drinking from a glass or a handshake or any of that nonsense. The armpits is what has really got me scared. How accurate is the 6 week finger prick rapid test? and are my symptoms reason for concern?

Hi seriesfs76,

Don't worry, you have tested at 3 months before. 3 months is the conclusive by CDC standards. As Teak and others have mentioned, unless your are on chemo, severely immunocompromised (like organ transplant), or had other possible exposures during the interim, you'd do fine! Do you know that so many of us here, including myself, will very much want to be in the position you are? Testing negative at 3 months? We will jump for joy if we tested negative at 3 months, and move on with life already!

Sometimes doctors run extra tests on patients if they are unable to find out what is wrong, that is because they need to make sure, and rule out all other possibilities.

Tell you a story, i have a friend's aunt, who developed a swollen leg with lots of red purplish spots on it. The spots started spreading to the other parts of her body. She got admitted to the hospital. The doctors could not find out what is wrong with her, so they started running test after test after test which all turned out normal. Referred her here and there for nearly one whole week. and it later turned out it was really just a very benign issue! the circulation was clogged up somewhere, which led to her swollen legs, and petechiae spots. So that's just how the doctors and medical field works, they just run more tests on you if they are not sure.

Hope this helps you in your anxiety, and go for the test with confidence, seriesfs76, you'll be fine if you had not have any other encounters during the past 6 months.

If you need someone to say 100% to feel better, then yes, 100% negative.

Go get your test done, and when you come back, you'd be advising the others.

i need some quick advice and some support. Im going to get my 6th month test tomorrow morning but i have a big day following it. My doctor wanted me to get the 6th month because they have ran test after test and cant figure out whats wrong. As i type right now my armpits still feel sore and i have another spot on my back and still do not have my normal energy. Should i go in and test tomorrow? If i am postive it will be the worst day of my life and i wont be able to do anything but cry and think of you i have possibly infected. If i go test tomorrow can anyone guarantee i will be negative despite still having symptoms 6th months later? Also i will be testing a few days early before the 6th months, is that ok?

I have all of the same symptoms as you and I am negative and I accept that I am.  I want to get rid of the spots though and I am seeing a dermatologist on Tuesday.  Why don't you see one?  Anyway, if you are interested I will tell you what the derm says to me.  I hope you make your appointment too because if you get rid of the spots you will feel like you have closed the chapter and can get on with whatever you need to get done in your life.  Ok.

You have a Dr that knows nothing. You have beentold you don't have a risk and then you tests any way and test negative.

There is nothing more we can help you with here. Either believe the advice you have been given by us, go into the "Expert" community and read what the Dr's here say or believe your Dr who clearly has no knowledge about HIV testing window periods.
