If one is truly experiencing ARS from HIV infection, then yes, they would test positive on an antibody test. The ARS symptoms come from the body's process of creating antibodies in response to the virus.

You can test with a PCR-RNA test but it has to be followed up with an antibody test. 3 months post exposure is when you can obtain your conclusive test result.

I cannot tell you the percentage of chance that your result would change, but I will tell you that it would be unlikely. I know it is hard to just sit around and wait until 3 months rolls around, but it is really all you can do. You can test again at 6-8 weeks and this will give you a VERY good indication of your status that is extremely unlikely to change when you go for your 3 month conclusive test.

IF your partner is telling the truth and she had a negative test result and had not had sex with anyone since a year before you, then she certainly does not have HIV. But, the ONLY way to know your status is to test.

You are correct that a test at 4 weeks is over 90% accurate. This is because the vast majority of infected people will make detectable antibodies by 4 weeks. Just wait until 12 weeks to get your final, conclusive result. I do not recommend getting a PCR test because they are very expensive, they are not diagnostic tests, and additionally then tend to yield a high amount of false positive results because of their high level of sensitivity. Just wait for the 3 month mark for your final antibody test. I wish you the best of luck.
