Some worry

I had a medium risk with some blood contact to a cut on my body that was a few hours old. I wasn't to worried but woke up one morning with a sore neck (don't know if it is swollen lymphs or not), it is in the right back side of my neck. I have also had a very tight throat, almost feels like I have been about to get a sore throat for two weeks but it has not developed. I get the odd headache and have not had a fever. I wish I never went on the net as as soon as you read you worry. The neck stiffness has been around for about 5 days and I am just over 3 weeks from exposure. Would any of the symptoms be typical of ARS. Would it be okay to test at 4 weeks to relive some of the anxiety? Doesn't ARS usually present as a fever along with other symptoms.

Hi there,

You symptoms are not HIV related.  You have NO risk of HIV.

Dr Frascino ansered a question on environmental blood on the body - from what I read I think you'd need to have your cut in contact with a lot of environmental blood to acquire HIV and he's normally super-conservative.

Also there are many versions of that graph on the web with varying timescales on the X axis and various different curve envelopes. Everyone has a different body so there will be a different graph for each person, that is each person who has HIV.

Also, by this graph, it look like no antibodies would be present until almost day 40, doesnt Dr H say 80% will test positive by 4 weeks?

So basically without a fever this may just be muscle soreness is what I get from this. It looks like fever is present in over 97% of the cases.
