Protected anal sex

I just read an answer from Dr. H on the expert forum where he advised a guy to never participate in anal sex even with a condom when he doesn't know the person's HIV status. I keep hearing this is zero risk as long as the condom doesn't break...what would be the reasoning for his recommendation? Is the fail rate in condoms too high? are the reported cases of people being infected with condom use without it breaking? Just curious as to why he would make such a recommendation. I had protected receptive anal sex with a transgender sex worker...one time incident so I feel like I'm low risk but this type of advice seems troubling a little. Thanks for any response.

Oil cannot be used with latex but can be used with polyurethane. Yes it takes time for oil to break down latex and cause a failure. Just don't use oil.

Thanks for response. I know oil-based lubes break down latex and is not recommended. Does this guarentee condom failure and does the process take a while? Thanks. Just curious. I will watch these type of things in the future. I wish I had this information earlier.

There is no such thing of contracting HIV without a condom failure during anal sex. Reason for the use of plenty of waterbase lube.

What's your take on the recommendation of the Doc. What are the chances of breaking a condom during anal sex? Is the fail rate during anal the reason he would suggest this. Just looking for a reason as to why he would hand out that recommendation. Thanks?

Anal sex is typically DRY SEX thus chances of condom breakage is high if not lubricated. ALWAYS CONFIRM if cd is INTACK.
