This thread is closed. The debate could go on forever, and Dr. Hook has already told the OP that he is conclusively HIV negative.

I just read that in illinois if the mothers hiv status is unknown than its a law to test the baby. So I guess its different in every state
They cannot do an HIV test on anyone in the US without informed consent.
Just saying I never signed a consent and they tested me twice for eacb baby but maybe it's a state thing
No they don't test either one.
So what if she declines? do they test the baby?
Women have to sign a consent for an HIV test. She can't be forced to take one, although it is recommended.
In my experience they draw blood and do many tests, HIV is just one of them, but they usually don't ask for the consent, I don't remember them asking, just telling me after the fact it was negative.
Why would any woman want to not know if she's pregnant?
Your going to have to ask the woman in question that your concerned about.
Not sure if that is possible.
I live in ilinois. What if the woman declines to test?
In America an HIV test is part of routine testing while pregnant.
