I read that the window period starts the day of the potential exposure. Would this mean that I would be contagious to others 24 hours after the exposure, if I contracted the virus. Please help. Thanks.

Good question, but I don't think it would be possible for the same reason you would test negative. There would not yet be enough of the virus in your system. The virus would not yet have travelled through your body and integrated with your cells. Seroconversion is the transformation of your body from being HIV- to HIV+, therefore if that takes up to six weeks, you are not actually HIV+ until that is completed and cannot pass the virus so soon after. Maybe a week after, but not just a day. I'm no expert, so that's really just a guess based on what I've read. Either way, I'm sure its impossible to be contageous in just one day. That's probably also why you are able to seek PEP within 72 hrs after exposure.

Nothing to do with fingering. My question was is there a window period btw contracting and being contagious. This will help with my partners' symptoms or lack of. You answered this once, so I am trying not to be a pest. Is it impossible to catch the virus one day and pass on to someone else the very next and why? Thanks!
