I read slot on your advice on testing.  I had a few unprotected encounters few years back.  My question is regarding the 4th generation combo test.  According to your advice it's 99%accurate at 4 weeks.    But is it still accurate on or after 6 weeks? Since it detects mainly the p24 and it's only present in the beginning of the infectionnand the other part of the test is just like an elisa?

It is still accurate at 6 weeks.P24 antigen is detectable for up to 8 to 10 weeks and many HIV experts have established this.Dr S Cummings and Dr M tyrer Freedom Health youtube.HIV testing.

So a combo test is good even after one year ? Forever?

Yes,If p24 antigen becomes undetectable that's when antibodies will be detectable and the same goes for the viral load.The DUO is an excellent test because it's very accurate and sensitive.

Thank you for the clarification.  So for my exposure 2years ago, I could still take a combo test even though it's been 2years.?

You would be better off taking the Elisa because it's cheaper but it makes no difference either way.

A combo includes what elisa does     .   So I. Prefer to go for a combo

Combo= Antigen + Antibodies  Elisa= Antibodies
