As a fellow nurse, you really should be more aware of the mechanics of HIV. The virus is not transmitted in this manner.
I'm glad the doctor didn't give you PEP. There are a lot of side effects and risks of taking it, and unless it is TRULY warranted, it should not be given recklessly.
You are just fine....put it out of your mind completely.
The Dr. didn't give you PEP because you were never at risk of contracting HIV. The only thing you were at risk of contract was chickenpox if you haven't had them.

I AM NURSE WORKING IN HOSPITAL ,2 WEEKS AGO ONE OF MY PT WHO IS HIV + AND HAD SHINGLES ,SCRATCHED ME BY HIS NAIL.,I HAVE TO MENTION THAT HIS SKIN WAS SO ITCHY AND HE WAS KEEP SCRATCHING HIMSELF A LOT.
I WENT TO EMERGENCY ROOM ,DR DIDNOT GIVE ME ANY ANTY RETROVIRAL MEDS.
I AM VERY WORRIED ,WHAT SHOULD I DO? PLEASE HELP ME

Thanks Lizzie, but should i need a test on this one, because the scratch was like a cut quite deep, and it blood did come out. Also becuase of this guy's status
NAWWWWWWW...it "aint" gonna happen that way. you were not at risk for anything from this except maybe an OUCHIE ! !
forgot to mention that little bit of blood did come out of that scratch
