Hello! I am a heterosexual male, I made some poor sexual decisions in college and had unprotected sex a few times with a woman whose HIV status I was unsure about. I am 14+ months past our last encounter, and I am dating a different woman now with whom I would like to spend the rest of my life.
I took an OraQuick at-home test this morning, and the results were a bit confusing. I swabbed my gums, placed the test stick into the solution, and folded the flap so that it covered the test stick. I did not move the flap to look at the test stick during the 20 minute time window, but after 20 minutes I unfolded it to discover that there was nothing on the test strip- at least not immediately.
After another 3-4 minutes or so, a faint control line became visible. I watched and waited to the 35 minute mark and nothing else appeared, although the control line became a little more visible, but still not nearly as dark as test booklet indicates. I was pleased that nothing appeared on the T line, but still a little concerned that the testing process didn't unfold exactly how the test booklet said it would. Am I overreacting, and has anyone else had this experience?
Thanks in advance for your help.
