Should I be concerned
I had protected vaginal (unknown condom type - maybe lambskin as the lady provided it) with a lady that works at the bank with me (not in my group but there are 33000 employees) and unprotected oral sex on her (i licked her quite often and there was a lot of vaginal fluid taste). I have so many symptoms that include a sore throat 1 week after the event, muscle pains in my lower back and legs, tinglings, nasal drop, neck lympnodes were swallown when I had the sore throat and my ears hurt. I have tested hiv 1/2 negative at 9 weeks but I dont know if the test covers subtype O (it was a rapid test and from what I read from the insert it didnt mention subtype O). I would appreciate your help. Thank you.

You didint have a risk, at all, please dont waste your time and life worring about this, please read my journal and you will realize how dangerous is the fear of hiv, your test would absolutly be negative.

Today is my 10 week test. 4pm EST. (I have a 9 week negative so far). I am really nervous. You guys know my situation (above). The thing is - I feel like I'm going to be punished. I did this while getting to know an amazing girl. I know we werent officially together but we were introduced for that very reason (we started talking in late January). Then we did get together (didnt have sex with her) but I closed up mentally because of my symptoms and fear of HIV. Over the last 10 weeks she said I just wasnt there mentally like I was distracted - she said she doesnt know me because of the constant up/downs and that I disengaged from her. So now I've likely lost her ... says she needs space (maybe her word for an exit). I screwed all of this up because of this encounter with a co-worker and now I hope I'm not punished. I'm trying to get past this but hopefully test negative and can fix things with her. I cant believe how much of your life the fear can get a hold of - its absolutely unreal. Wish me luck today.
I don't really know how to answer your question. Subtypes are something I'm not particularly well-educated about, so I'll defer to the knowledge of others here. Or you could pay the $15 and ask the doctors on the doctors' forum. But it's my understanding that subtype O (and probably N too) are extremely rare. I think subtype O is practically unknown outside of Cameroon, and only a few cases there.
Think about this logically for a minute. What's probably causing your tongue-burning, sore throat, runny nose, and thigh pain? Infection with an incredibly rare type of HIV after a no-risk one-time episode of vaginal sex with a latex condom? Or one of a thousand very common minor ailments - like a cold - or even stress?
I mean, if you want to get tested at 12-weeks, go ahead, be my guest. But you'll be wasting your time, as it will come back negative.

Anyone can please give me some feedback on how I can test for this? My tongue has been slightly burning for a few weeks and my left thigh has been hurting for the same time along with the night sweats. Hopefully I didnt catch a rare variant or O or N.

You where never at risk, lamb skin condoms are not very common to find and they look diferent from latex condoms, oral sex is no risk, and your 9 week test proves it, so just move on forget about it, the rapid test will pick up the subtype O.

any help from people more knowledgeable and more sane. I went to the doc today to get a referral for mental therapy but im not totally convinced that its mental and not hiv. Please help.
Thanks teak. I got feedback from J_friend that I should just move on and put this behind me. I'm constantly worried about this and I have driven a wonderful lady away (something that I met a week after the casual sex episode with a co-worker). Her feedback: U are very sweet but I dont know if I can say I know who you are - so many ups and downs. I dont blame her as I've been emotionally clued out because of a) symptoms driving me nuts and b) constant worry. Should I just continue testing out to 12 weeks or go see a thearapist about OCD and try to forget the whole thing based on my risk level. Appreciate the help.
Any feedback fellas? I've been having night sweats 3-4 times a week. This would be my 10th week since the episode and im not sure if the night sweats are worry related or HIV. I've tested negative at 9 weeks (which was last friday). The sweats are around the neck area and my tshirt gets damp in that area. My pillow is sometimes also damp as my bed sheet in that area.
Do you think I should wait for 12 weeks conclusive or just move on with my life now? Kind of stressed and not sure what to do.
I have read that a lot of rapid tests dont cover subtype O. Should I get a specific ELISa for this subtype or any other specific test that checks for it?
