With HIV, you don't take chances, you just test. Then you go from there.
Welcome to pregnancy... and congratulations! I am just as stressed as you are about the baby and all these tests we are taking... makes you stop and think about the past for a minute and about "that chance" we could be 1 in 400,000,000,00,000,000 (total exageration) that we could be HIV positive. I am 23 weeks pregnant now and had my prenatal panel (HIV, HEP B, Rubella) test done about 3 weeks ago, that's when I started going nuts on the internet from worry, and ended up here. You have nothing to worry about... accept the baby. Your chances seem slim to none from what I've read about statistics. It's been 3 weeks now and my OB didn't call. He doesn't call unless there is a problem. I am now worried about the Glucose Test. If it's not one thing, it's another. Worry about your baby and you, your diet, and painting the nursery!! You and your baby are going to be fine. :o)
about 3 weeks post-exposure, I had my 24 week OB checkup and after telling him about the incident, I got tested for chlamydia and gonorrhea. The results came back negative. About a week later I got tested for a UTI and that also came back negative. What do you think the chances are I'm infected with this said?
You are in good hands they'll keep a good eye on you.
How many weeks after exposure was it that you tested? What kind of test did they run? If they did a standard ELISA retake the test at 13 weeks. More than likely when you visit you OBGYN they will tell you that they are going to do another test later.
It was 6 weeks after exposure. in fact, ther nurse told me to get retested in 3 months and I intend to get retested next month as it'll be 3 months after the exposure. I had some blood drawn....
