To Teak,Dr Handsfield,Dr Hook and to evrybody here

Am african and am 19. Had sex with a sex worker. I used a condom but am not sure if the condom broke or not because i was drunk. She gave me oral sex too. I got worried because i didnt check the condom for breakage.Exactly one month after the exposure i got test using a rapid test and it came out negative. Had another test at 6wks and it came out negative. I started PEP medication but I Stopped after 7days. Immediatly after i stopped the medication I Had a glycoprotein(24,31,120,46 and 41) test at exactly 7wks after the exposure and it was negative. At 11wks i had a hand prick test and it came out negative. Pls i want to knw if the 7days PEP medication can manipulate or extend the window period and also if i need to have another test at 12wks. Should i also have another test after 12 due to the 7days PEP i had or should i stop and believe that am free from hiv.

For pep to be effective it needs to be taken immediatly so starting at 6 weeks is unlikly to have been any help for the initial exposure. All your tests are negative even at 11 weeks and would not likely change at 12.

I started taking the PEP 6weeks after the exposure. Had already done a rapid test at 4weeks after the exposure before taking the PEP at 6weeks after the exposure.
