White tongue

Ok here's my situation. I may have been exposed on Dec. 13th. I gave and recieved unprotected oral and engaged in protected sex. However, the tip of my penis did come in contact with her vagina for a short time unprotected. (I wasn't thinkin about STDs.. just pregnancy.) Anyway, a new days later I noticed my tongue was white. I did not have any other symptoms of ars that I recall, however i wasn't aware of that was a possibility at the time so I wasn't looking for it. The whiteness was just on my tongue itself. It wasn't patchy, it was basically the whole topside of my tongue. My cheeks were clear and same for my gums. It would scratch off a bit but not easily. It was painful in the middle of my tongue when I scratched it. Now, given that that was my only symptom that I remember, is it possible that I just got a yeast infection in my mouth from her vagina? Or is this possible indicative of HIV?

Your white tongue can not be diagnosis over the internet. You have to show your tongue to your doctor and have him take a scraping and test it.

I also experienced this symptom in December, but soon realized after speaking with several doctors that oral thrush is something that happens years after infection due to a weakened immune system.  Your white tongue came on too soon to be related in any way to HIV.

Oral Thrush also needs to be diagnosed by a medical professional as it is often times different than just a "white tongue".  Thrush has the appearance of cottage cheese and can be scraped off easily.  It is usually painful and you may get some slight bleeding once you scrape it off.

Either way, it has nothing to do with HIV if it is in relation to the exposure that you describe.  And as I am sure you have heard numerous times, symptoms are never a reliable indicator of new infection.

Yea, it does help to hear that but the main question I was hoping to get answered is: is it possible that I just got a yeast infection from the oral sex? I'm not saying do I personally have it, you cant know that, im saying is it possible?

The answer is yes. You can get a yeast infection in that manner. You can also have thrush without being infected with hiv. You will still need to see a doctor and have it checked.

If you truly have thrush you won't be waiting three months you won't be able to put up with the pain. Thrush, saying it mildly, hurts. You don't have to wait three months to get checked for thrush. You can go at anytime. Most likely it will be a normal white tongue.

The white tongue is now much better. I'm going to go get tested at the 3 month line. No need in going before that, I'll be just as worried until 3 months anyway. Thanks a lot for the responses!

Well, if it is supposedly that painful, I definitely don't have it. I thought oral thrush wasn't necessarily painful.

Wow. I just read that people who do contract HIV generally only live for 10 years after diagnosis. Is that accurate? That makes me about 100x more worried. I would hate to die at 30 =(  (I do of course understand that I prolly do not have it but still.. anxiety doesn't go away just bcuz you want it to)

You don't die in 10 years. We are you reading that stuff? If it were true I would have done been buried twice.

10 years is the average. I heard there are people living for over 25 years already and still havn't got into full blown aids yet. There are also people who have already got into the aids stage but still manage to live for over 9 years up to now.
