Sex after 4 weeks suffering from Heavy Cough,Cold and running nose.

Dear Doctors,

I'm male. I had sex unprotected sex with one of my friend(White girl), whom I know for only few days. HIV status of my friend is unknown. I had inserted my penis one time in the vagina (Less than 60secs). And after that I had sex with the latex condom. The incident happen on April 13th and after that I gone for all the STDs test everything came back negative. And I  tested for HIV after 27 days of the sexual exposure. Currently I'm in Canada I don't know what type test they will use. I guess they did Antibody test. And the result came up with negative. But after 4 weeks of the exposure I'm suffering from running nose, cough and cold. Is that the early symptoms of HIV but no fever, no swollen lymph nodes or other symptoms... And now she told me that she got stomach cancer and I saw her she lost too much of weight. Please advice me doctor. I'm scared.

With thanks
Scared boy

No test is 100% conclusive until 3 months post-exposure.

Hi if it is any consolation, your risk of exposure if your partner had hiv is 1 out of two thousand. Also your 6 week result is over 95% accurate. It is very unlikely you have hiv.

Best regards.

First of all, unprotected sex was a valid risk, whether it be 60 seconds or  2 hours.

Second an HIV test 27 days after exposure is a reliable preview, but to be sure you must get tested again at Week 6.

Third I have yet to read medical publications connecting stomach cancer with HIV or any other STD. It is not advisable to assess HIV risk by symptoms only

Get tested again at Week 6. Relax man, it'll be fine :)
